Hey there, I'm back with another review. I've been having such a good reading month. So far I read 8 books which is a lot for me. September isn't over yet so we'll see how many more books I can read by the end of the month. Out of all the 50 books I've read this year, this book is definitely one of my favorites. If you wanna know why, read on :)
The Plot (Goodreads Summary)
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster

My Opinion
This book was so amazing and incredible. I loved it so much! It was so unique and original and the writing style was beautiful.
Let's talk about the writing style. I loved the writing. It was beautiful and poetic with lots of good quotes. The way this book is set up is very unique. This book has drawings, instant messaging, email and schedules in it. Because of those, it was a very quick read. I read it in two days and two sittings which is very fast for me. The pacing was done well. It was never slow, Nicola kept me interested the whole time.
Last but not least, let's talk about the characters. The characters in this book were developed so well. I love when authors are able to create characters that you can picture seeing in real life. I loved the main protagonist, Madeline. She was a normal girl with a rare disease but I loved her because of her kind nature. She really cared about the people she loves and she took a lot of risks for them. I liked her Mom at the beginning of the book, I started to dislike her at the end. If you read the book you'll know why. I'm not spoiling anything. I loved her nurse, Carla. She reminded me so much of Minny and Aibileen from "The Help" which is one of my favorite books. Speaking of that book, another reason why I loved this book is the diversity. Madeline is half Asian, half African American which I thought was so different. I don't read many books where the characters are Asian or Black so it was unique. I loved Olly, he was such a great guy. I felt bad for him because he sort of has a messed up family. He was so nice and understanding, I loved how he loved Maddy even though she has a fatal disease and can't leave the house. Their relationship was so cute. I liked the romance, it wasn't rushed and their friendship was awesome too.
Overall, this book was so good! It was my most anticipated book of the year and it didn't disappoint me at all. It's one of my new favorite books. If your looking for an amazing contemporary book with awesome characters and beautiful writing, I highly recommend this book. This book is definitely worth a buy, go buy it now! Also this is Nicola's first book and I'm planning on reading her future books someday. Thank you so much for reading. Have a great day and don't stop reading. I appreciate your support, bye :)
