April & May Wrap-up and an Update!
Hey guys. I know it's been a while since I posted something on here but I'm back now. So I usually try to review every single book I read but since I've been gone for like a month, I'm going to do a wrap-up for all the books I read in April and May. I might do reviews for these books another time. I don't feel like writing separate reviews for all these books right now, because there's way too many books. So for now, here's my late wrap-up!
First I just want to mention that in March I read "I've Got Your Number" by Sophie Kinsella. This is the only book I read in March that I haven't reviewed so I wanted to mention it here. Sophie Kinsella is a great author. I read so many of her books and this book didn't disappoint me. It was such a fun read. I gave it 5/5 Lily Pads. If you love fun adult, contemporary books, I really recommend this one.
Here's the books I read in April:
1) Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. This is the first book in the "Falling Kingdoms" series. I read this for a read-along that took place in April. I really enjoyed this book. It really surprised me because I didn't think I was going to like it as much as I did. I don't read many YA fantasy books and it was really good! It was a very quick read and it was just a perfect book. I gave it 5/5 Lily Pads! I really recommend anyone to read it because it's a good book if you want to get into fantasy. I really want to continue the series in the future.
2) Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. This is the third book in the "Throne of Glass" series. What did I think of this book? I was really disappointed. I loved Throne of Glass. Crown of Midnight was not as good but I still liked it. Heir of Fire was such a frustrating book to read. This book was torture. It's so big. It took me 8 months to read this book! 8 months! It was so boring! I just couldn't get into it at all. I don't like where this series is going. I hate the evil witch, Manon, she didn't seem necessary to me. It felt like Sarah just wanted to put a evil villain in the story because every fantasy book has to have a villain. The chapters with Manon were the worst, I didn't care about her so I skipped most of her chapters. My main problem with this book was, it's such a big book and it was so boring. I officially decided that I'm done with this series. If Manon is going to be in the other books then I'm not reading the next book, especially because the next book is going to be even longer. I hate reading big books. Maybe I'll borrow it from the library some day but for now, I'm not planning on reading the last 3 books. I'm sorry to everyone else who loves this series but I guess it's just not for me. I really liked the main characters but I don't like where the story is going. It's such a shame because Throne of Glass was my favorite book out of the three. Everyone said the series gets better with each book, but to me it got worst for each book. I gave this book 3/5 Lily Pads. I would still recommend this series to anyone who likes fantasy, it just wasn't for me.
3) Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige. This is the first book in the "Dorothy Must Die" trilogy. I read this book for a read-along in April. I loved it! I love all things related to "The Wizard of Oz" because it's my favorite book of all time. When I heard there was a retelling of it, I was excited! I'm so glad I finally read it. This book has lots of mixed reviews but I personally loved it! It was just so good! I need to read the next book. I obviously gave this book 5/5 Lily Pads. I recommend this book to anyone who loves Wizard of Oz like me.
4) Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. This is the second book in the "Infernal Devices" series. I loved this book! I read the first one last year so I really needed to continue. This book was so much better than the first and it's one of my favorite trilogies of all time. Cassandra Clare is one of my favorite authors. Only she can make me cry and laugh. I like the "Mortal Instruments" series too. I need to read Clockwork Princess soon, even though I got spoiled. I gave this book 5/5 Lily Pads. I would recommend anyone to read this series.
5) Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. This is the first book in the "Hush, Hush" series. I know a lot of people didn't like this series but I've been wanting to read it for years so I finally read it. I actually really liked it. It wasn't amazing but it was very enjoyable. I want to continue the series some day, but not right now. I gave it 5/5 Lily Pads.
6) Unbelievable by Sara Shepard. This is the fourth book in the "Pretty Little Liars" series. I'm doing a PLL read-along where we read one book each month. I really like this series. It's very good and addicting. I liked all the books so far so this one didn't disappoint me. The books get better each time. I gave it 5/5 Lily Pads. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes contemporary and mystery.
Now here are all the books I read in May:
1) The Castaways by Elin Hilderbrand. I originally buddy read this book with my booktube friend Rachel. I didn't love this book. At first I liked it, but it got boring. I hate books that don't have a lot of dialogue in it and that's what this book is. This book is in 6 point of views. It was just their past/back stories over and over again. Not much happened in this book. I hate to admit it, but I had to DNF this one. I feel bad for not finishing it, but I couldn't help it. I was generous and gave it 3/5 Lily Pads.
2) Escaping Me by Elizabeth Lee. This was a book I got for free on kindle. I really enjoyed it. It is a typical New Adult Romance but it was good. I gave it 5/5 Lily Pads. It's not free anymore but if your looking for a easy, light New Adult book I recommend this one.
3) The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson. This is the first book in the "Remnant Chronicles" series. I buddy read this with my booktube friend Tiffany. I really enjoyed this book. It was very unique for a YA fantasy book. I gave it 5/5 Lily Pads. I'm planning on reading the next book when it comes out. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy.
4) A Match Made in High School by Kristin Walker. This book has been on my TBR for years and I finally read it. This book was so cute and funny! This was the funniest book I've ever read. I also loved this book because contemporary is my favorite genre. The plot for this book was very unique and it wasn't predictable at all. If you love contemporary, I really recommend this book because it's so underrated and no one really knows about it. I gave it 5/5 Lily Pads.
So those were all the books I read in April and May. I haven't filmed a wrap up video yet but I'm not sure if I will. I was thinking about not doing wrap up videos anymore but we'll see. I'll give you a quick update. So far I read two books in June. I read "Wicked" by Sara Shepard. It's the fifth book in the "Pretty Little Liars" series. Of course I loved this book, all the books are amazing. I gave it 5/5 Lily Pads. I also just finished "When it Happens" by Susane Colasanti. I really enjoyed this book too. It was a cute high school romance book. I also gave it 5/5 Lily Pads. I'm currently reading "Killer" which is the sixth Pretty Little Liars book and I'm really enjoying it so far.
Thank you so much for reading. I'm so glad I'm back now and I will be posting more book related things soon. Happy reading!
