Hey everyone I'm back with a review. I haven't posted in a month, but I'm glad to be back. Today I am reviewing "Red Queen" by Victoria Aveyard. I loved this book! It was very good. Read on to know my full opinion.
The Plot
The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.
To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.
Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of
those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.
But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?

Red Queen is about a girl named Mare. She lives in a dystopian/fantasy world where you are separated by the color of your blood. You can either have Red blood or Silver blood. Mare has Red blood so she lives in a tougher society. Red Bloods are the poor people. They have to serve for the royals and join the military. Basically, their not treated very well. The Silvers are the leaders of the world. They are the rich royals who rule the society. They are treated well, they are special and have some unique powers. Mare is a red blood, but she is also a silver because she has a unique power, one that a red isn't supposed to have. One day a Prince finds Mare and brings her to his castle. While she's there she has to work as a servant. Later on Mare discovers that she has a power that she didn't know she had. Basically she has red blood but she has some qualities of a silver. The question is, is she a red or silver?
My Opinion
Red Queen was such a great book! This book is your typical dystopian/fantasy where the main character is "the chosen one." Now I want you to know that I went into this book with low expectations because I heard mixed reviews about it. This book has been so hyped up and it only came out a couple months ago. Everyone kept talking about it. I thought it sounded really good so I had to get a copy. I can honestly say, I loved it! I thought this book was such a great read. It stood out from all the other YA fantasy books. A lot of people said the plot wasn't unique and it copied plots from other YA books and everyone compared it to other books. For me that wasn't true. I truly thought this book was so different, original and unique. I'm sort of in the minority since I think it wasn't copying other books. Oh come on, all YA books copy each other, especially if it's the same genre. No matter what, everyone will always compare a book with another book. Like I was saying, the plot was very cool and unique. Think about it, you're separated because of the color of your blood! That's so cool!
First I'm going to talk about the characters. I really liked the characters in this book. Mare was a great character. She was raised in a poor family and I just loved her character. She was your typical strong, independent female character but I really liked her. She never bothered me or got on my nerves. I never really dislike characters in books so I didn't have a problem with her. I liked Cal, he was a good guy. I liked Maven at first but not by the end of the book. I'm not going to spoil anything but if you read the book, you'll know why.
The pacing of this book was really good. I didn't think it was slow, it never dragged for me. The book isn't that long so it kept my attention. Like I said before I loved the plot. I never read a book where the main character has some kind of superpower. It was cool to read about.
Overall this book was so good! I haven't read many YA fantasy books, so I can't really compare it to other books. Red Queen is definitely one of my favorite books of 2015. I can't wait for the next book to come out! It stinks that I have to wait until next year to find out what happens but I can live. It sort of ends on a cliffhanger so I'm just warning you. I forgot to mention that this book had a huge twist that really affected me, and it was a huge reason of why I loved this book. If you read the book you'll know what the twist is. I didn't see it coming at all. Anyway, this was an amazing book. Victoria Aveyard is a great writer and I can't wait to see what she writes next. If you guys love fantasy/dystopian I really recommend this book. My advice is to go into this book with low expectations and don't let the bad reviews stop you from reading this amazing book. I think this book is worth a buy and that was my review. Thank you so much for reading. I will have a review for this book on my channel soon so stay tuned for that. Have a great day and God Bless all of you. Bye!! :)
