Hey everyone, I'm back. I haven't updated my blog since last month. I'm really behind on my videos and written reviews, but I am back with a review. Today I am reviewing "Talon" by Julie Kagawa. This is the first book in her new series. I don't know how many books there will be. The second book "Rogue" comes out in April and I really want to read it. Anyway, let's get on with the review :)

The Plot(goodreads description)

Long ago, dragons were hunted to near extinction by the Order of St. George, a legendary society of dragon slayers. Hiding in human form and growing their numbers in secret, the dragons of Talon have become strong and cunning, and they're positioned to take over the world with humans none the wiser.

Ember and Dante Hill are the only sister and brother known to dragonkind. Trained to infiltrate society, Ember wants to live the teen experience and enjoy a summer of freedom before taking her destined place in Talon. But destiny is a matter of perspective, and a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught. As Ember struggles to accept her future, she and her brother are hunted by the Order of St. George.

Soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian has a mission to seek and destroy all dragons, and Talon's newest recruits in particular. But he cannot kill unless he is certain he has found his prey: and nothing is certain about Ember Hill. Faced with Ember's bravery, confidence and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything that the Order has ingrained in him: and what he might be willing to give up to find the truth about dragons

This book is about a teenage girl named Ember. She is a dragon, and so is her twin brother, Dante. Ember and Dante are in this organization called "Talon". They train and learn to fight. The book starts with them traveling to their Aunt and Uncle's house. They have to stay there near the beach and try to "fit in" with everyone else because there are people out there who are trying to find them and kill them. Ember and Dante cannot show their dragon side. They have to be humans the whole time. So they do their best to try and fit in when something happens. There is a guy named Garett. Garett is a soldier and his job to kill dragons. His people believe that dragons are evil because they kill humans.  This all changes when he goes to the where Ember and Dante are. He senses dragons there and tries to find them. He ends up meeting Ember and suspects that she is a dragon. Later he realizes its getting harder for him to kill dragons. Ember ends up meeting Garett and becoming  close to him. She also meets this guy named Riley who is also a dragon. He tries to convince Ember to join his tribe called "Rogue". They are the rebels who try to escape from the cruel society. Ember ends up questioning her life when she lands a position she doesn't want. What will happen? Will Ember choose to join the rebels? Will she choose Garett or Riley?

My Opinion

I really loved this book. It was so unique. I never read a book where the main character is a dragon. This book was one of my most anticipated books of 2014 and I'm so glad I read it. I feel this book is very underrated. I don't see many people talk about this book. I loved every moment of this book.
The Characters- I loved all the characters. Ember was a great protagonist.  She's your typical strong main character but I really liked her. I really liked her brother Dante too. Even though they didn't agree a lot, I liked their relationship. I'm a twin myself, so I understand the bond. I really liked Garett. He was a good guy but I also liked Riley too. I think there might be a love triangle in the future books. If there is, that will be hard for me because I like both guys.
The Plot- I really love the plot for this book. I thought it was cool and unique. It's sort of like Dystopian books where there are two sides and the main character realizes society isn't as perfect as people think it is. I just thought the whole dragon society was unique. I love dragons.
The Writing- I really love Julie's writing. I thought the writing was well done, I was never bored and the pacing was perfect.

I have no idea what genre this book is. It feels like contemporary mixed with Dystopia and Fantasy.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I give it 5/5 Lily Pads. This book is actually pretty big, but it didn't take me long to read. I really wanna read Julie's "Iron Fey" series. If you love books about dragons, I would really recommend this book. I would recommend this book to anyone because it's underrated and I feel more people should read it. That was my review, thanks for reading. I will have a video review on my channel soon so stay tuned for more. I think this book is worth a buy so you should go buy this book now! Bye :)
