Hey there readers, here is a new review. Today I am reviewing "These Broken Stars". Before I start my review I want you to know that I was never interested in reading this book. I usually don't like books about Sci-fi but my sister loved this book so she wanted me to read it, and I did. I enjoyed it but it wasn't my favorite book. Anyway let's get on with the review.

The Plot

Luxury spaceliner Icarus suddenly plummets from hyperspace into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive – alone. Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a cynical war hero. Both journey across the eerie deserted terrain for help. Everything changes when they uncover the truth.

This book is about a girl named Lilac and a boy named Tarver. They are very different. Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the world, and Tarver is a soldier. They come together when the ship they're on crashes. They are the only ones that survived the crash and so they end up getting stranded together on a planet. They have to find their way back to the ship, without trying to kill each other. This is a survival story, and a romance. What will happen? Read the book.

My Opinion

I went into this book with low expectations. I wasn't sure if I would like it because I haven't read many science fiction books. I ended up really enjoying this book. I love reading survival books so this book was right up my ally. I'll admit it took me a long time to read this book because when I started it, I was in a reading slump. I put it down for months and decided to pick it back up again. I ended up liking the book more the second time.

What I liked about the book: I didn't just like this book because of the gorgeous cover but I loved the plot. Like I said before I love reading books about survival. The plot sounded really interesting. I've heard people say it's like "Titanic" in space, so it sounded cool. I really liked the writing style. I couldn't tell which author wrote each part, their voices blended together so well.
I really liked that this book only had two characters and it was in Tarver and Lilac's point of views. Whenever I read books about a guy and a girl I like reading from the guy's perspective too. I loved their voices, I just really enjoyed both perspective's. I really liked Lilac, a lot of people said they didn't like her because she's bratty and whiny but I liked her because she acted like that because she was brought up to be a spoiled brat. I also liked her because she's independent and likes to take care of herself. She had a witty personality and she was stubborn at times but she never annoyed me. I really loved Tarver, he was such a great guy. I loved how he took care of Lilac even though she didn't want him to help her. He knew how to survive and I just loved him. I loved how they both helped each other throughout the book. They use their strengths and they worked together. Now let's talk about the romance. I liked the romance because it wasn't rushed. In the beginning of the book, Lilac and Tarver hated each other. I love when author's make the girl and the guy hate each other at first. You really see their relationship develop, and the author's did such a great job. It didn't feel like insta-love at all, they really took their time making them develop feelings for the other. I was waiting for them to get together because it took so long for them to realize their feelings.

What I Didn't Like: I didn't really have a lot of problems with this book. The only thing I didn't like was all the sci-fi stuff. A lot of the terms I didn't know and there were parts in the book that were confusing. I'm not going to mention the parts that confused me because I don't want to spoil anything. I sort of lost interest in the story around the end of the book, I just got bored but I still finished it. It wasn't bad, I actually read this at my Grandparent's house for Thanksgiving and there was a lot of noise so I was probably just distracted and couldn't pay attention to the story. Overall, I didn't have many problems with it.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I might read the next book "This Shattered World" some time in the future. I think this book is good if your looking for a science fiction book with romance in it. I think this book is worth a buy and that's my review. Thank you so much for reading. Stay tuned for more coming soon. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and happy reading. Bye :)
