Book Review: Flirting With Boys

Flirting With Boys by Hailey Abbott
Rating- 4/5 Lily Pads
Paperback Edition-Bought
Pages-240
Would I recommend It? Yes.
No Spoilers!

Hey everyone, I am back with another review. Today I will be reviewing "Flirting With Boys" by Hailey Abbott. I really enjoyed this book. I read Hailey Abbott's "Summer Boys" series and I enjoyed it. This book didn't disappoint me. I like the author's writing style. This book was a nice, easy read but it wasn't amazing. It was an enjoyable read. I think I liked this book better than "Summer Boys". I have a review for the Summer Boys series if you want to read it. Anyway, let's get on with the review!

The Plot

Flirting with Boys has a very simple plot, which is why this book is perfect to read in the summer. This book is about a girl named Celeste. Her family owns a resort near the beach in California. She just graduated high school. Hey boyfriend Travis, pulled a prank on graduation day and almost gets arrested. Celeste convinces her dad to let him go, and her dad makes Travis work at the family resort for the summer. Celeste is happy with that punishment, because that means she gets to spend the whole summer with her boyfriend. But there's a problem. Every year the resort's best family/customers son, Nick flirts with Celeste. He always flirts with her and they hooked up last summer. Celeste tries to keep Travis and Nick away from each other, but it doesn't work. How is she going to be able to keep them apart? Will Travis believe that Celeste doesn't have feelings for Nick? This book is one big love triangle. Who will Celeste choose?

My Opinion

Like I said before, I really enjoyed this book. I didn't really have high expectations because I knew it would be a light, summer read. The plot really intrigued me and that's why I bought the book. I really liked Celeste. She was a good character and she really cared about her family and the business. She did everything to make her dad happy. I didn't like her boyfriend, Travis. At first he was okay, but he's your typical teenage boy that gets into trouble and gets drunk. He was a huge jerk and started lots of trouble, and he was so jealous. He didn't trust Celeste at all. In the book, he does something that affects their relationship. I'm not going to tell you what it is, but he is very selfish. Unlike Travis, I actually really liked Nick. Nick is the typical flirt/player. Every year he flirts with Celeste and he obviously has feelings for her. He 's not as bad as he seems and him and Celeste get close. Celeste has to help Nick plan a party and they start to get along and become friends. I thought Nick was really nice. Travis was a stupid jerk to Nick because he was jealous, and I felt bad for Nick.

Overall, this book was very good. The ending was very predictable and satisfying. I knew who Celeste was going to choose before I read the book. This book had lots of drama in it, and it was very entertaining. I recommend this book for anyone who likes contemporary books that take place during the summer. So that was my review, thanks for reading, stay tuned for more coming soon. I'm not sure if I will be filming a video review for this. I might, but I'm sick right now so I don't really feel like filming a video, but I'll let you know if I do. Bye everyone:)

Update

Hey everyone. Today I wanted to give you a little update. I'm currently reading "Flirting With Boys". I am almost done with it. I will post a review and a video review soon. I had an idea. I'll either make a blog post or a video about this. I want to do a rant/discussion about Underrated YouTubers/Tips for New BookTubers. But mine is going to be different because it will be in the New BookTuber point of view. I had my blog for a year and I had my channel for almost 5 months. I'm still a new booktuber so I know how it feels to start out. So I will do a discussion talking about how a new youtuber feels, especially when you first start out. I will also give people tips for starting a channel and to encourage more people to make videos and join the book community. That's it for today, just a quick update. Stay tuned for more everyone, I love you all, bye.

Book Review: The Breakup Bible

The Breakup Bible
by Melissa Kantor
Rating- 5/5 Lily Pads
Hardcover Edition
Pages- 265
Would I recommend it?
Yes!!
This book was not sent to me for a review, I bought this book myself and this is my own opinion.
No Spoilers!!

Hi everyone! I am so sorry I haven't done a review in a long time. I've been so busy with my youtube channel and haven't been in the mood to write reviews. I am back today with a review for a book I really loved which is "The Breakup Bible" by one of my favorite authors, Melissa Kantor. Stay tuned for my review.

Okay everyone, first I am going to tell you guys what this book is about.

The Plot
Basically "The Breakup Bible" is about a teenage girl who is a Junior in High School. She is one of the editors for the school newspaper, "The Spectator"
Jen's life is perfect until her boyfriend says "I think it would be better if we were just friends". After Max dumps her, Jen's life turns upside down and she becomes depressed. She can't get over him no matter what, especially after she discovers, he already has a new girlfriend, Anya and Jen hates her more than ever. She visits her Nana and Nana gives her a little gift. It's a self-help book called "The Breakup Bible". In the book there are ten commandments to help get over a breakup. At first Jen doesn't care about the book or Dr. Emerson's advice. Later she starts to read the book and follow the commandments. Does the book help Jen finally get over Max? Will she be with the boy her dad wants her to be with, and will she give Eugene(Gene) a chance? You will have to read the book to find out. I am not giving you any spoilers. So now here's my opinion.

My Opinion

This book was just so good. First of all you  need to know that Melissa Kantor is one of my favorite contemporary authors. She is such a good writer and I love how her characters are so realistic and are so easy to relate to. I read two other books from her called "Confessions of a Not It Girl" and "If I Have a Wicked Stepmother, Where's My Prince?" and I loved those books. It's really sad that Melissa is such an underrated author. I haven't seen or heard anything about her in booktube. I guess it's up to me to rave about her, and get people to read her books. Her characters are just so likable and I could relate to all of them. Even though I've never had a boyfriend and never been dumped, I found this book really inspirational. I feel everyone who's been dumped can really relate to this book. I'm not trying to spoil anything but I'm glad Jen really got better and learned the breakup was for the better. I loved her two best friends Clara and Martha. They were really good friends and I enjoyed reading them. I loved Todd. Todd is friends with Jen and helps her with the school newspaper. They write an article about race and Todd was just such a great guy. He's black and I love how Jen and Todd tried to improve the school. I hated Max since the beginning of the book, and not just because he dumped Jen and put her through all her misery. Since the novel was about Jen and her breakup, Max wasn't really in the book that much. When he was in the book, he acted like a selfish jerk. I'm not gonna tell you why, you'll have to read the book yourself, because like I said before, I'm not spoiling anything. I didn't get what Jen saw in him, and I was waiting for her to finally get over him, especially because he started dating Anya right after the breakup. What I also liked about this book was, the author really gets you to feel what the narrator/Jen is feeling. I felt all her emotions. I really liked Jen and was so happy for her in the end. If you guys are wondering who Gene is, I'll explain. Basically after the breakup, Jen's dad wanted to set her up with Gene. At first she didn't want to because she was just dumped, and she still really loves Max. They go on one date and something happens. I really liked Gene. He was a good guy and he was so much better than stupid Max. The ending was so satisfying and I learned something from this book. Whenever something bad happens in your life, something good comes too. Usually when I have a bad day, something good happens to me at the end of the day and that's exactly what happened in this book. I love when books make you learn something. This book was just so meaningful and the idea was so clever. It's basically a fiction self-help book that everyone should read. If I ever get dumped in the future, I will read this book, and I know it will help me feel better. Do I recommend this book, of course I do! I think everyone should read this book, especially if you just got dumped or broke up with someone. This book has good tips in it. I say this book is worth a buy. I got this book for a dollar at a used book store, but this book is worth so much more than a dollar. If a book touches your soul, you know it's a keeper. Well, I guess this is the end of my review. I didn't think I would have this much to say. Whoever is reading this, go and buy this book now. You won't regret it, it will touch you and make you smile. And please go check out Melissa Kantor's other books. She is a wonderful author and I highly recommend her books. That's it for my review, I hope you liked this review. I will be filming a review for this book on my youtube channel so stay tuned. If you haven't already feel free to check out my channel on the top left of this blog. Thank you so much for reading this review, bye for now and stay tuned for more reviews soon to make up for the past months. Anyway love you all, bye!
