Fake Boyfriend Book Review

No Spoilers!!!
I recently got "Fake Boyfriend" by Kate Brian from my library. I didn't know what to expect but my expectations were met. I had high hopes for this book. I knew I would love it. This book really surprised me. One word that describes this book is "WOW!" This book was so good! This book was also funny. I laughed a few times while reading this book.
Here is the plot:
So basically this book is about three best friends. Their names are Isabelle, Vivi and Lane. Even though they are best friends they all have different personalities. Isabelle is described as beautiful and perfect. She is valedictorian and very popular and smart. But she's not smart when it comes to guys. She is dating a boy named Shawn who is a huge jerk. Lane and Vivi don't want Isabelle to be with Shawn because he hurt her many times. Vivi comes up with an idea: To make a fake boy profile on MySpace so Isabelle can see that she has other options when it comes to boys. Vivi gets her brother Marshall to pretend to be "Brandon" so he chats with Isabelle a lot and she develops a crush on Brandon. The plan works at first, but it later backfires. This book will really surprise you. I loved all the characters. My favorite character is Lane because I can relate to her. Vivi annoyed me at times because she was too controlling, but she was nice to go through everything to help her best friend. This book was hard to put down and I was drawn in from the beginning of the book. "Fake Boyfriend" was a cute read and I recommend anyone to read it.

iBoy Book Review

I borrowed "iBoy" by Kevin Brooks from the library not knowing what to expect. Before I started reading the book I had no high expectations. I just opened the book and started to read. I have to say, the book is a little boring in the beginning, but it soon picked up throughout the middle. I actually did like this book. I don't know why. Normally this book wouldn't be my type of book to read. Here is what the book is about:
This book is about a sixteen year old boy named Tom Harvey. He lives a normal life except for the fact that his mom died in an accident, so he lives with his Grandma. His life goes along fine until he hears someone screaming his name. He looks up and someone throws an iPhone down at him, causing Tom to have a brain injury. It turns out he gets some pieces of the phone stuck in his brain and the doctors can't get the pieces out. Now Tom Harvey is not a regular kid. He has superpowers. Now he is"iBoy". With one flick of a switch, he can turn himself into a iPhone. He can do everything in his brain that an iPhone can do. He can search the web, go on facebook, text and call people and other things, from his mind. That's amazing! When he hears that his long-time friend Lucy got raped by men, he sets out to save her. Soon he is considered a superhero and no one knows who he is. Lucy secretly talks to iBoy on facebook, and he doesn't reveal that it's her old friend Tom. Using his new powers he tries to save the world.

This book was alot better than I thought it was going to be.

Pros: I loved the characters, well not the villain. The main character Tom is such a strong character. He is very mature for a sixteen year old boy, and is such a good guy. I like how the main character is a boy, because I don't read many books with a guy's point of view. I also loved his love interest Lucy. I felt so bad for her. Tom treats her well and she is so sweet.
This book actually takes place in England because that is where the author is from. I liked it. I liked the author's slang and the reference to "pounds" instead of regular money that we Americans use. I liked this book because it was different. I also liked that this book wasn't too long. It wasn't even three hundred pages. I liked the whole twist on Spiderman.

Cons: There weren't many but I have to mention them. First off, the action doesn't really begin until after a hundred pages. This book has alot of cussing in it, and I didn't like it because I don't swear. I think that's it.

So I really liked this book and gave it four stars on goodreads. It wasn't good enough to be a five but better than a three. All the reviews were great for this book. This is also the first book from Kevin Brooks I read. If you are looking for a cool, science type of book that's different, I recommend this book.

Bitter End Book Review

Beware of Spoilers!!!

Okay what to say about this book. Hmm. Let's get started! Recently I went to the library to pick out a book. "Bitter End" by Jennifer Brown was on my list for a while. I found the book at the library and thought I should read it. First of all I have to say this book was a lot darker than I thought it would be. I thought I was picking up a cute love story. I read the reviews for this book, and the reviews were really good so I had high hopes. I gave this book 3 stars on goodreads.  My opinion changed throughout the book.

This book wasn't great or amazing, but it wasn't the worst book I've read. I put off reading it for a while because I was reading another book. I had to renew this book from the library so I had to read the whole book yesterday because the book was due today. This book wasn't a book that bored me, but I put it down a lot. Here's the plot of the book:

He'd never told me he loved me before. Nobody had ever told me they loved me before.

So this book is different from others books I've read. The story is about a seventeen year old girl named Alex. She is a senior in high school. She doesn't believe in love or relationships. Her mom died when she was younger, and she isn't close to her dad. Her dad never got over his wife's death and neither did Alex, even though she was too young to remember her mom. Alex has an older sister and a younger sister, and she isn't close to them either. She has two best friends named Bethany and Zack. They lived next door to each other since they were little. They always called themselves the "Terrible Three". Every thing was going okay in Alex's life until one mysterious boy comes in her life. (This part is very predictable and is overused in other novels.) This guy named Cole moves to a new town and goes to Alex's school. She becomes his tutor and they get to know each other. I think you know what happens next. Alex falls in love with him and Cole feels the same about her. After awhile their relationship grows and Alex experiences something she never thought would happen to her. Later in the story she discovers that Cole has a bad reputation. He abuses girls he dates. The reason why he moves to a new town is because of his reputation. Alex meets a girl who was also a victim to Cole's anger problems. Alex gets hurt and doesn't know what to do.

My opinion:

To me this book just wasn't good. The writing wasn't awful but wasn't great. I liked how the author wrote about a very important topic. I also didn't like it because it made me feel uncomfortable. When I first started reading this book, I really liked it. When Cole first comes into the picture I was rooting for him and Alex. I felt their relationship was a little rushed. I felt that this book dragged on and on. Alex kept getting abused and then Cole would apologize and tell her he loved her and it goes on and on. The same thing kept happening. It was obvious that Cole was going to keep on hurting her. Throughout this book I kept shaking my head at the main character. She was so stupid. You don't know how many times I kept screaming "Just dump him already!" She was so dumb for wanting to stay with him. I hated Cole. I liked him in the beginning but once he got jealous, I hated him. He was so mean to Alex's friends. Bethany was trying to be supportive and Cole yelled at her. Also I felt so bad for Zack too. Zack is the kind of guy who normally likes everyone but he hated Cole ever since he met him. You can tell Cole is not a good guy because Zack hates him. Cole kept getting so mad that Alex was always hanging with her friends. He got so mad when he saw her hanging or talking to Zack. Okay, I understand that he doesn't want his girlfriend to hang with another guy, but he went too far. Zack is just a friend to Alex. Cole kept telling Alex that Zack is in love with her, but Alex told him they are just friends. I felt so bad for Bethany and Zack. The reason why I gave this book 3 stars is because of her friends. I really liked Zack. He is cool and funny and kept standing up for Alex. I liked Bethany too.  I also gave this book 3 stars because of Georgia. Georgia is the manager of the restaurant where Alex works. She treats Alex like a good mom and that's what Alex needs. I liked her.  I kept waiting and waiting for her to stand up to Cole. Cole is such a jerk. Even when he was nice to Alex after hitting her, I didn't believe it. I liked the ending. I thought I was going to like this book, but it was a huge disappointment to me. I like some realistic fiction but this book just wasn't good. I didn't read the author's other book, so I can't compare the two. If you want to read this, I guess I could recommend it. If you're comfortable with reading about abuse then you should read it. If you're like me who doesn't like reading about depressing parts of life, then don't get this book.

Nothing much

So right now I am currently reading "Bitter End" by Jennifer Brown. It is good so  far, but I feel like I read a book like this one before. I think it is the wrong book to read right now. It's not a summer book. It's dark YA and is tough to read but I will continue reading it. I will post a review when I'm done with the book.

Inside Out Book Review

Today I just finished reading this book. Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder was an excellent read. To be honest at first I didn't think I would like this book. I heard of this book from Booktubers I watch on YouTube. I read the plot and thought it sounded really good. Normally this book wouldn't be my type. I'm into mostly romance books. I thought I might as well give this book a chance. I put it on my to-read list. It has been on the list for a while. I wasn't planning on getting it anytime soon. Then I went to New Hampshire to visit my grandparents. I knew there was a bookstore there, and I asked my mom if I could go. I went to the bookstore and knew I was gonna come out with books. But I didn't think I would come out with this book. I bought four other books. I put it on my shelf for a month. Recently I thought I should read it because I was in the mood to read a dystopian novel. I wasn't sure if I would like it because I have been disappointed with dystopians right now. I read Divergent because of the hype and I actually did not like it! It wasn't the absolute worst book ever, but I didn't love it. My sister loved the book and told me to read it. After I finished the book I decided to read Insurgent because I heard that book was better than the first. Let me tell you that book was awful! I don't know why I didn't like the book. Nothing happened and it was so boring. The series sounded amazing! The characters were so one dimensional. Anyway back to Inside Out. This book was just so much better than Divergent. I was never bored reading this book. I loved the characters and the different world. Here is what the book is about:

Keep Your Head Down.
Don't Get Noticed.
Or Else.

I'm Trella. I'm a scrub. A nobody. One of thousands who work the lower levels, keeping Inside clean for the Uppers. I've got one friend, do my job and try to avoid the Pop Cops. So what if I occasionally use the pipes to sneak around the Upper levels? The only neck at risk is my own...until I accidentally start a rebellion and become the go-to girl to lead a revolution.

Now here's my summary.
The book is pretty much just about all these people who have to work for a long time each day, inside. Now there are two different places. Inside is the lower level. Everyone that lives in Inside has to work for a living. They are treated unfairly and eat disgusting food. There's really not much love inside. There's no families either. If a baby is born, the baby gets send to the care facility. There's no point in finding a mate. Also the lower levels are poor. Anyone that lives Inside, cannot go Outside. Outside is a better place to live than Inside. Outside is a richer environment where everyone gets an apartment. They get to eat better food. All Outsiders should find a mate, but they can only have one child. If there is an accident, the baby gets sent to a care facility and becomes a scrub and worker in the Inside. So the main character is a sixteen year old girl named Trella. She doesn't know anything about her parents and doesn't want to. Her best friend is a guy named Cogon. They are good friends and he shows her a guy they call Broken Man. The man is old and can't take care of himself so Trella helps out. She always climbs in and sneaks through the vents. She brings the old man food. Broken Man tells her he has a way that she can escape Inside. After a while she tries to think of a plan to get out with the help of Cogon, Logan and Anne-Jade. She meets a boy named Riley who lives Outside. Trella meets him in his secret room she finds one day. They become friends and there is some romance between them. I don't want to give everything away. I'm telling you to go out and buy this book now!! If you like science fiction then this book is good for you. Maria V. Snyder has a talent with her ideas. I found out she thought of this book from a dream. This book was so good and better than I thought it would be. Go buy this book now!!
