Book Review: A Novel Proposal

Hey everyone!! I'm back with a new post! Today, I'm reviewing "A Novel Proposal" by Denise Hunter. I've been wanting to read her books, and am so glad I finally read one! I borrowed this book from the library, and I loved it!! Read on to hear my full opinion. 

You guys, I loved this book so much!! It was amazing! I loved everything about it! I loved the beach, small-town setting. It's set in South Carolina, and the main character stays in a duplex right near the beach. She shares it with her neighbor, Sam. I loved being transported to this coastal town. The main character, Sadie is an author. I love books where the main character is an author, or works with books. I loved the plot, and there's even a little mystery subplot thrown in, and it was fun to read. I loved the characters. Sam and Sadie were both so likable, and relatable! They both struggled with their own issues, and overcame them by the end of the book. The romance between them was super slow-burn and adorable! I loved them together, and loved that they were friends first, and really got to know each other first. That's all I want in a romance book. Denise did such a great job at developing the romance, and their character developments. I loved Sam's family, especially his sister. I loved the later plot in the book, where they go to a wedding in Florida. That was fun to read! As you can  see on the cover, there's a little free library because Sadie puts up a little free library near the beach. I was so surprised by how much the library is in the book. It was so fun to read, because the main character always checks it, mentions what books are in it, and talks to other people that stop by, and she even recommends books to the locals. I loved the little free library plot so much! There's also another plot with it in the book, but I don't want to spoil it for you. This book has a really cute proposal in it! I was smiling non-stop while reading it! I'm a romance editor, and I think the reason why I think this book was so well-written, is because it checks off all the boxes, for what makes a good romance novel. She really knows how to write romance, and I love how in the beginning of each chapter, she puts a tip for writing romance. I loved that! The last thing I want to mention is, I love the faith and family values she put into the book. I'm a Christian myself, so that was wonderful to read. The book mentions God, and the characters going to church, so, if that's not for you, I wouldn't read this book. However, if the faith stuff doesn't bother you, you should give this book a try! 

Overall, I loved this book so much! I'm going to buy a physical copy for my shelves, since I need to return the library copy. This is one of the best books I've read so far this year, and I highly recommend it! If you're looking for a cute, clean, summer romance with no-spice, then you need to pick this book up!! What I'm Reading This Week!!

 Hey everyone!! I'm back! I'm sorry that I haven't posted in a few months. I just recently got back into doing YouTube, so I've been focusing on that lately. I still like to post on here as well! First, I want to give you an update. So, I've finished some books recently, and have finished 6 books so far this year. I have some book reviews that I want/need to post, so stay tuned for that! I love writing book reviews, but I'm a little behind. My next post should be a book review. Anyway, I want to share with you my reading plans for the week!

I just recently got out of a slump. I'm actually currently filming a library reading vlog for YouTube. I took a week off from it, because I wasn't liking any of the books. Since my reading slump is over, I'm back to reading library books. So, I'm currently reading "A Novel Proposal" by Denise Hunter. She's a Christian author, and I've been wanting to read her books. I'm about halfway through the book, and I'm really liking it! I love the setting! It's set on a beach in South Carolina. The main character is staying at a duplex on the beach. There's a romance between her and her neighbor, Sam. It's very slow-burn and very cute! I'm loving everything about the book so far! I will probably finish it later this week. I Got Rid of Most of My Books!! (Why I decided to down-size my book collection)

 Hey everyone!! I'm back with a new post! Today, I want to share with you something that I've been wanting to talk about since I started blogging again. 

I've been a huge reader my whole life. I used to mostly borrow books from the library. I've used the library most of my reading life, from elementary school- after high school.  I very rarely bought books, and used to have a very small book collection. That was before I discovered BookTube in 2012. After that, I did still use the library a lot, but once I started my BookTube channel in 2014, that's when I really started buying books. I bought books a lot in the past 10-12 years. It was really bad when I worked at bookstores. My book buying addiction became very bad! I used to own lots of bookshelves, and previously had four bookshelves filled with books. Most of them were books I haven't read yet. It really got out of control.  That was several years ago, in 2024. I ended up quitting my bookstore job, and after that, my book-buying went down. That's when I started purging books. Owning so many books, started to really stress me out, especially because I'm a very slow reader now. I used to read a lot faster when I was younger, but not anymore. It was so stressful to look at my shelves, and see 200-300 books that I haven't read. I asked myself what was the point in having them, if I'm not reading them, or reading them right away? It would take me years to read all of those books. I didn't want to feel stressed out looking at my books anymore. So, that's when I decided to go through my book collection, and get rid of books. I went through and got rid of books that I wasn't interested in reading anymore, and I honestly DNF'd a lot of them, so that helped get rid of them faster too. After un-hauling books the past two years, this is what my book collection looks like now! 

It's only two bookshelves! I went from having four full bookshelves, to only two now, and all of the shelves aren't even filled up! The pink cart is my physical TBR, and it's so small now! I only have 7 books on my physical TBR, instead of 200 books.  It feels so good! I'm not stressed out looking at my book collection now. I'm very strict with what books I choose to keep now. I'm only keeping my favorite books/series, and I'm only keeping books that I will reread. I love rereading, and it's been saving my reading life lately. I renewed my library card last year, and started using the library again. It feels so good! I literally went back to my reading roots! I used to be mostly a library reader, like I said before, and that's what I'm going back to. I'm using the library a lot now! I'm not buying books anymore. I've been having a blast taking trips to the library. It fills the void of going to the bookstore, but I'm not spending money. I love going through the shelves and browsing at the library. My plan now is to borrow new books from the library, and then, if I end up loving the book, then I'll buy a copy for my collection. I wasted so much money buying books that I ended up DNFing, and it makes me cringe, because I literally could've borrowed all of those books from the library, instead of wasting my money. So, yeah. You probably won't see any book hauls much in the future. I will do library hauls instead, to show you the books I check out from the library. I forgot to mention that I have a Kindle. I love my Kindle, and use it a lot. Right now, I currently have around 90 books on it. I recently went through my Kindle, and got rid of a lot of books. I like both formats, but nothing beats a physical book for me. I love holding a book, and feeling the pages.

Book Review: Scene of the Grind

Hey everyone!! I'm back with a new post! I haven't done a book review in a long time! I really missed doing them. I just finished reading "Scene of the Grind" last night, and wanted to write a review. 

I loved this book, you guys! I haven't been reading the cozy mystery genre long. I started reading them a few years ago, so I'm not very picky with them. This one intrigued me because the main character owns a coffee shop! I'm a big coffee lover, so I loved reading about the main character opening a coffee shop. As with all cozies, this one had such a great and cozy setting. These books are always set in a small town, and this one is set in Kentucky. I loved all of the town residents. Also, loved the main character, Roxy. She was great! I also loved Patrick! I basically loved all of the characters. I don't want to go into more detail, because I don't want to spoil you. 

This book was such a quick, easy read. I read it in 10 days, which is fast for me nowadays. I flew through half of it in less than a week, which is very fast for me. As for the murder, I did figure it out, and was right about who the killer was. Most of the time, I'm usually wrong, but sometimes, it's easy to figure out. Overall, I really enjoyed this book! I would highly recommend it! I definitely want to continue the series.

What I'm Reading This Week!!

 Hey everyone!! How are you? It feels so good to be back! I love posting on here. I officially came back a few weeks ago. I've been so busy with work, and haven't gotten to post. It's been a very busy two weeks for me. Now that I'm done with my project, I can post more. Yay!! I was in a reading slump the past several weeks. I tried a bunch of books, but nothing was hitting. I started rereading the first "Harry Potter" book, because I wanted to read it in December. I ended up DNFing it for now, because I wasn't in the mood to read it anymore right now. After that, I just read a manga. I read volume 2 of "Maid-sama." I like to read manga's whenever I'm in a reading slump, because they are easy to read, and it works every time. So, I got out of the slump. 

I just started reading "Scene of the Grind" by Tonya Kappes. It's a cozy mystery, and I'm really enjoying it! I don't read cozies all the time, maybe twice a year, but when I do, I really enjoy them! They are such fun, easy reads! They always have great settings, great characters, and cute, sweet romances. They never disappoint me! I got into the genre a few years ago, and haven't looked back! I also love to read them when I'm in a reading slump, because they are short, and easy to read. Cozies are also very addicting! I tend to read them a lot faster than other genres. I'm currently reading the book on my kindle, as you can see in the picture. I prefer reading cozies on kindle.

Update: I'm Officially Back!

 Hey, there! Remember me? I hope so! 

If you've been following me, you'll know that I moved to a new website years ago. I moved my blog over to Wix.com. I used it for a while, but honestly, didn't love it. It was more difficult to use. After that, I started posting blog posts on my business website recently. I recently just got back into blogging in 2024. I did it for such a long time, and I first started blogging in 2013. I really miss it honestly! I know blogging is kind of outdated now, but I still love it, and I love reading other people's blogs, even now in 2025. The reason I wanted to come back here, is because, I want to separate my book posts from my business posts. Books I've Read Recently!

Hi everyone! I know I haven't posted in like two months. Honestly, I've just been too lazy to post. I've still been reading but 2018 is definitely my worst reading year. I haven't been reading much this year and I feel horrible about it. So I'm going to share with you all the books I've read in the past two months.

1. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. Ever since I first discovered this book last year I've been so excited to read it! I can honestly say that this book is worth all the hype. I loved it so much!! 5/5 Lily Pads
2. The Deal by Elle Kennedy. This is another book I've wanted to read for a long time. I actually read this book for a readathon. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad I finally read it! 4/5 Lily Pads
3. The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. So I read this book way back in 2013 and I didn't love it. I wasn't much of a fantasy reader back then. I'm so glad I gave this book a second try because I ended up loving it the second time around. This book was so fun and amazing! I can't wait to continue the series. 5/5 Lily Pads

The most recent book I just finished is "Soldier" by Julie Kagawa. I really enjoyed this book. I didn't love it as much as the previous book, but she's one of my favorite authors so I had to give it a perfect rating. 5/5 Lily Pads

Update and a Mini Review for "To Kill A Kingdom"

Hey guys! I know it's been a month since I last posted. I didn't realize it's been that long, lol! I haven't been reading as much because I've been busy working two jobs. I wanted to let you know that I am still reading. I recently dnf-ed a book and didn't want to write a review for it because I only write reviews for books that I've fully completed. Anyway, the book I didn't finish was "War Storm" by Victoria Aveyard. I love the "Red Queen" series but this book was hard for me to get through and I spoiled myself by reading reviews, and I found out this book wasn't worth finishing. Spoilers!!
It has a really stupid ending. I got about halfway through the book when I saw the spoilers and they were so bad, I decided I didn't want to waste my time reading this big, boring book so I officially put it down. If you don't wanna get spoiled please go down to the next paragraph. Basically, "War Storm" has no official ending, it's basically open-ended and I hate books like that! Nothing was resolved, a favorite character of mine dies and my favorite couple doesn't even end up together! I was so mad and I'm warning you not to read "War Storm" because you will be disappointed with the ending and don't waste your time reading that huge book because there's no ending. 

Anyway, let me update you on the last book I read. So I just recently finished "To Kill A Kingdom" by Alexandra Christo. It was pretty good, I gave it 4/5 Lily Pads. I really don't feel like writing a full review for it because I don't have much to say about it. So I'm going to give you a quick review here right now. 

So I really enjoyed the book. It was a good, dark, retelling of "The Little Mermaid" with sirens in it. I love any books with mermaids and sirens and this book didn't disappoint me. At first I wasn't a huge fan of the main characters but after awhile they grew on me. I liked the setting too. The reason why I knocked down a rating is just because it wasn't amazing to me. I wasn't blown away by it but it was still a good, fun book. So yeah, overall, it was a pretty good book and you should read it if you love siren books. Like I said before, I don't have much to say about it so I'm gonna end my review here. 

So that was my little update and review. I'm planning on reading "Spindle Fire" by Lexa Hillyer next because I really wanna read it but also because I checked it out from my library and I need to read it before it's due. Book Review: Rogue

Introduction

Hey there, I am back with a new review! Today I am reviewing a sequel to an amazing book I read years ago. That book is "Rogue" which is the sequel to "Talon" written by one of my favorite authors. This was an amazing sequel! This is going to be a quick review since this is the second book in a series, and my reviews are spoiler-free so there's not much I can about this book without spoiling you. Let's get on to the review. 

Plot-5/5

I'll admit that this book doesn't have much of a plot. It's basically just about the main protagonist, Ember running away from the government and they are trying to get her back. I love this series so much so I had to give the plot a perfect rating. Also, this series has dragons in it, so how could I not give it a high rating. 

Writing-5/5

Julie is one of my top favorite authors. I love her writing! She's just an amazing writer and storyteller. 

Pacing-5/5

The pacing is the reason why I loved this sequel so much! This book literally had non-stop action on every page. Pretty much every page they were either running away or fighting someone and it was awesome! I couldn't put this book down and this book always kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time. There was never a dull moment in this book. I was captivated by every page. I was also home from work most of the week because I injured both of my knees. So I was able to fly through this book in four days which is good for me because I'm a slow reader.

I love all of the covers in this series. They are just so cool! All of her books have amazing covers so I'm probably just biased, lol. 

Characters-5/5

Julie has an amazing talent at making you love all of her characters. The characters in this series are awesome! Also, this book is written in multiple pov's so you really get attached to the characters. I love Ember, she is such a kick butt character. I also love Garret so much! He is such a nice guy and I am Team Garret all the way, since the first book. I just think him and Ember are meant for each other. I do like Riley though, he's a great character too. I see him as just a friend to Ember even though most people like him more than Garret. As for Dante, I like him but I don't know what his motives are. Is he supposed to be good or bad? I think I like him just because he's Ember's brother. 

Overall Thoughts

This book was absolute perfection. Every single book I read from Julie, I love. It's just not possible for me to hate her books. Overall, this was an amazing sequel. I read the first book years ago so I don't really remember it that much, but I think I like this book better. However, I hated the ending of this book so I'm a little worried about the third book, but I also can't wait to read it. I need to know what happens next. If you love dragons and haven't read this series yet, what are you waiting for? This series is so cool and unique, you have to give it a try. Also, I really recommend her "Iron Fey" series. So since I'm working two jobs right now, I don't have as much time to read. I'm getting out of my reading slump and I want to read more again. Overall Thoughts

Overall, this was a great sequel but I didn't love it as much as the first book which is why I gave it 4/5 Lily Pads. I still really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the third book when it comes out next year. If you haven't read this series yet you should because it's really good and underrated. So yeah that was my short, quick review. I apologize for making this review short but I don't have much to say about this book. Thank you so much if your reading this review. Hello guys, I'm back again with a review. Today I am reviewing the only book I've read in March so far, which is "The Dragon's Price". March has been a busy month for me so I didn't get much reading done. I'm glad I finally managed to finish this book and I loved it!

You should know by now that I love my Fantasy books. When I first read the summary of this book I knew I had to read it. Anything with royalty and dragons are right up my alley. It just sounded so cool and unique.

This is my first book from the author and I loved her writing style. I can't really explain why, I just found it beautiful at times.

The pacing was great, I was never bored. This book took me a long time to finish but that was because I've been busy.

I'm not a fan of the cover at all. This book is so wonderful and it deserves a way better cover. 

Characters-5/5

I loved the characters in this book! Especially the main character, Sorrowlynn. She's not your typical princess. She's very strong and kind and I really liked her. I loved Golmarr so much! He is one of my new book boyfriend's now. I don't know why they all come from Fantasy books, haha but I just love guys in the Fantasy genre. Golmarr is so sweet, kind and very brave. They both reminded me of "Emma" and "Eadric" from my favorite series "The Frog Princess" series. I don't know why, their characters just reminded me of them. I guess that's a good thing and that's probably why I loved this book so much. I got "Frog Princess" vibes while reading this book. By the way, if you haven't read my favorite series then what are you doing? I'll admit that the romance was very insta-lovey but it honestly didn't bother me at all in this book. I think it's because I already knew that going in so I was kind of expecting it. I also don't care because I love those two together! I kind of liked Golmarr's family even though I don't trust them. I feel like there's going to be a betrayal in the next book. Maybe I'm just paranoid because I've read so many Fantasy books. I liked Sorrow's sisters but I hated her parents. They were so cruel to her. How could you treat your daughter like that and not care if she dies? I loved Enzio, he is a good guy. I believe those are all of the characters. But anyway, the character development in this book is amazing!

The ending isn't the greatest but I'm really curious to see what happens next. 

Overall Thoughts

Overall, I loved this book! I don't understand why it's so underrated. If you love Fantasy, you need to read this book! Please give it some love. I have the sequel "The Dragon's Curse" and I'm definitely going to read it very soon so stay tuned for a review for that book. This book is definitely worth a buy. Hey there, I'm finally back with a review! Today I am reviewing "The Wedding Date". This is her debut novel and I enjoyed it. When I found out about this book, I knew I had to read it. This book was right up my alley. The Fake-Dating Trope is my favoirte Trope in romance books/movies. I wanted to read a book that's similar to "The Hating Game" by Sally Thorne, which is one of my favorite books. This was the perfect Valentine's Day read. Let's get on to the review.

The plot is what sold me to read this book. I love books with fake-dating in it, so I had to read this book. I love that Alexa and Drew met in an elevator and I love that the book starts and ends with them in the elevator. I thought that was really cool!

Writing-4/5

This is Jasmine's first novel and I liked her writing. It's not the best writing I've read but her style is pretty good. The only thing I didn't like about the writing is she told the story more instead of showing us everything that happens. For example, whenever Alexa and Drew are together, she skips over most of their interactions and just shows them either eating or having sex. It gets really repetitive because that's pretty much all they do when their together. It kind of annoyed me honestly.

The pacing is fine. I was never bored while reading this book, but I wasn't motivated to pick it up in my free time.

Even though I didn't love this book I love the cover so much! It's gorgeous, that's all I have to say!

Characters-4/5

I think the main reason why I didn't love this book is because of the characters. I liked them, but I didn't love them.I didn't think the character development was that great, to be honest.  I'll explain why below.

First let's talk about the main protagonist, Alexa. She is a kind, short black woman that works in politics. She's kind of insecure about her body and her looks because she's always surrounded by white women. I really liked her character. She's very nice and kind. She was fine. 

I don't know how I feel about Drew. I liked him but I didn't love him. He's a good guy but he kind of bothered me. He goes out with girls but won't commit and he has some anger problems throughout the book. He sort of just annoyed me at times and yeah, I just wasn't a huge fan of him. 

As for the romance, I liked it. Their relationship wasn't developed that well though. Like I said before their relationship was mostly based on sex and food. I felt like they didn't do much. They talked but the author didn't let us see that a lot. They also had some communication problems. I'll admit that the romance was realistic though. 

I loved the side characters, Maddie and Carlos. They were great friends to Alexa and Drew.

I loved the ending of this book. It's a very cute, happy ending. I love happy endings!

Overall Thoughts

Overall, I liked this book but didn't love it. I've read better romance books but I'm glad I read this one. The author has a companion book coming out called "The Proposal" and I can't wait to read that book! If you love romance books, you should read this one. I recommend this book. That was my review. Hey guys. It's been a while since I last posted. I've still been reading but I haven't been in the mood to blog. I'm gonna give you a quick update on some books I've read recently. 

So I recently finished the "Falling Kingdoms" series by Morgan Rhodes. I read "Frozen Tides" which was amazing! It's one of my favorite books in the series. The next book I read was "Crystal Storm" the fifth book. I also loved that book. And the most recent book I read was "Immortal Reign" which is the last book in the series. I absolutely loved it so much!! It was an amazing conclusion. It gave me all the feels, especially at the end. This is a new favorite series of mine and I''m so sad that it's over. So after reading "Immortal Reign", it put me in a huge book hangover. It took me a while to except the fact that the series is over. I just couldn't get over the book for a couple weeks so I stopped reading. Then I picked up a new book I just bought on vacation which is "The Wedding Date" by Jasmine Guillory. Hello! I feel like it's been a while since I last posted. I've been reading but "Zenith" took me a long time to read because it's a huge book. I'm back and I'm here to review this wonderful book. When I first found out that Sasha and Lindsay were writing a book together, I was so excited! I love both of them so much! I love their YouTube videos. So I pre-ordered the book and read it right when it came out. And I was not disappointed! I don't understand why "Zenith" has so many negative reviews. This book was amazing! Let's get on to why I loved this book.

I actually went into the book blind, not really knowing anything about the book. I knew it was set in space with a group of Space Pirates, but that's it. I didn't wanna know too much about the book. I just wanted to read it to support Sasha and Lindsay. I absolutely loved the plot though. It was so cool! I don't normally read sci-fi that much, so I thought "Zenith" was very unique and it's something I've never read before. 

Setting-5/5

This book is set in Space, how could I not love it? Anything that's set in Space is automatically cool to me. 

Writing-5/5

I read some reviews for this book and a lot of people said the writing was so bad. I personally loved the writing! I couldn't tell which chapters the girls wrote, but I thought their writing styles were very beautiful. The book has flowery, pretty writing at times. Also, this book is in multiple pov's which I loved because I love books written in other pov's especially the guy's pov. Overall, I loved their writing styles, and I really wanna read Lindsay's other books since I like her writing. 

Pacing-5/5

The pacing was great! This book had so much action, it was non-stop action throughout the whole book. It was awesome, and I was never bored.

I think the cover is really beautiful. That's all I have to say. 

Characters-5/5

The best part of this book was definitely the characters. The character development was amazing! I loved all the characters!

Some of the characters reminded me of characters in other YA books but that didn't bother me. I thought it was kind of girl. I'll explain about the characters separately. 

First of all I loved the main protagonist, Andi. She was a great character. She's so kick butt, but she's also a good person. She's your typical, strong, smart girl but I loved her. She actually reminded me a lot of Aelin from the "Throne of Glass" series. I thought I was reading about her. 

Next let's talk about Dex. He is supposed to be Andi's enemy, but he's actually her ex-boyfriend. I loved him! He was actually a really good guy and I truly believe he's not evil. I was shipping him and Andi together throughout the whole book. I don't know why the characters reminded me of Sarah J. Maas's characters, but they did. Dex reminded me of Rhysand from the "ACOTAR" series. I don't know why, their personalities were really similar. I love Rhys so I'm okay with that, ha ha. I really liked the romance in this book.  They had a past instead of just meeting for the first time in the book. I thought that was really cool and different and even though they were together in the past, I wanted them to get back together. This book isn't romance heavy, it's more plot-based though. 

The next character I want to discuss is Valen. I didn't know what to think of him at first. I liked him, because Andi was sort of friends with him and he seemed nice. But then a plot twist happened and a theory I had came true. After that I didn't know how I really felt about him. I'm not going to spoil you but I want you to know that, he reminded me a lot of Maven from the "Red Queen" series. His personality was kind of similar to Maven. 

I loved Andi's group of friends. They were all kick butt and awesome girls. I loved Lira, Breck and Gilly. Their whole group is squad goals, I would love to be in their group with Andi. 

Ending-4.5

I thought the ending was confusing and it wasn't a great ending. I know there's a sequel so I was able to excuse the ending. I'm mad that I have to wait a whole year now for the next book, but it wasn't a really bad cliffhanger. 

Overall Thoughts

Overall, I loved this book so much!! It was such a cool, fun book. I enjoyed reading it even though it was very long and took me a long time to read. I can't wait to read the sequel. I need to see the world and characters more. I honestly would love a prequel about Andi training at the academy. I would love to see more into her past. If I haven't sold you yet to read this book then read it right now! Go out and buy a copy! It's so worth it and you won't regret it. I know "Zenith" has so many mixed reviews but please give it a try and don't listen to the bad reviews. I'm glad I gave this book a chance because I loved it and I know you will love it too. Also please read this book and support Sasha and Lindsay. They really deserve it!

Introduction

Hey guys! It feels like a long time since I last posted. I read some books lately but I didn't want to review them yet because I want to wait until the last book in the series came out. So after reading three fantasy books in a row, I wanted something quick and light. I've had "Kissing Snowflakes" on my shelf for a long time so I thought I would finally pick it up. I also wanted to read a book set in Winter so this book was the exact book I needed. It didn't disappoint. 

Goodreads Summary

This fun, sweet, wintertime book is filled with humor and romance. The picturesque mountain ski lodge is the perfect place to spend winter break if you have a boyfriend! Otherwise, that cozy leather couch in front of the crackling fire looks a lot less inviting. Good thing that there are lots of cute, blond, sweater-wearing ski instructors around to choose from.

That summary doesn't really explain the book much so I'll give you an explanation. This book is about a girl named Sam. Her and her brother, Jeremy get invited to go to a ski resort with their father and his new wife(their stepmother). At first Sam isn't very thrilled at the idea but then she realizes it's the perfect way to meet a cute guy. So this book is basically just about her trip with her family, meeting cute boys and hanging out with friends. 

Plot-5/5

I'm giving the plot a perfect rating because I loved the idea of a girl going to a Ski Lodge in the Winter. It was perfect to read in the Winter. 

Setting-5/5

I really loved the setting. I was really able to picture the whole setting at the ski lifts, and the lodge seemed really cozy. 

Writing-4/5

This book is supposed to be YA but it honestly felt more like middle grade to me because of the writing. It's in Sam's Pov but she was kind of immature and acted like a middle schooler and the author's writing wasn't amazing so it just felt younger to me than YA. 

Pacing-5/5

I thought the pacing was fine. It was a very quick read, I read it in two settings. I was never bored, it kept me interested the whole time. 

Cover-4/5

I think the cover is cute. This book was published in 2007, so I could excuse the not so amazing cover. 

Characters-4.5/5

I really liked the characters in this book. I liked the main character, Sam. She was very outgoing but also awkward and I liked her. She's not afraid to say what she's thinking so she tends to babble a lot. She was kind of frustrating and naive sometimes. I'm not going to say why because I don't want to spoil you. Her immature behavior is why I thought this was a middle grade novel. She got mad over things that weren't even that bad and she was kind of dramatic. I understand that teenagers can be immature but I guess I'm so used to reading about more mature teens in YA. I still liked her though, she was a good person.

I didn't like Drew who is Sam's first love interest. He was your typical hot, blonde, player that takes advantage of girls. He only wanted Sam for Sex and that is so not okay. I was waiting for Sam to get the hint that he wasn't interested in her after she refused to sleep with him. 

I did love Eric though. He's the son of the man that owns the lodge and I loved him. He was such a nice guy, and he loves to read and draw. I really shipped him and Sam throughout the whole book. The romance was very cute. 

I liked Phoebe who is Sam's best friend. She was really nice and I felt bad for her because Sam kind of treated her badly. 

I really liked Phoebe's Dad and her new Stepmom. I understand why Sam didn't like her new Mom, but Kathy was so nice and just wanted to get to know Sam and be friends with her. Sam treated her really badly and that was one of the things that frustrated me about her. I liked Sam's brother too. 

All the side characters I liked too. I'm not going to mention them more because that would take too long. 

Ending-4.5/5

The ending was really cute and predictable. However, I didn't like that she didn't resolve the problem with her and Phoebe at the end of the book. I assume their friendship is fine but it wasn't really told to the reader. 

Overall Thoughts

Overall, this was a cute romance book. I'm glad I finally read it and it was the perfect Winter read. If you love cute, light comtemporary romance books, I recommend this one. As much as I liked this book, I didn't love it which is why I gave the book 4 Lily Pads. This was a good book but I don't think it's really worth buying. I would borrow it from the library. Mini Reviews: Pushing the Limits and Gathering Darkness

Hey guys, I'm back! I know I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. I've been busy with the Holiday Season but I've still been reading. I just read two books recently. I don't feel like writing two long separate reviews for them like I usually do, so I'm going to write quick reviews for each book. I'm sorry for doing it this way, but I don't have too much to say about these books anyway, just know that I loved both of these books.

I really loved this book! It has been on my TBR for years and I'm so glad I finally read it. I thought this book was absolute perfection. I've never seen such a healthy romance portrayed this well in a YA Contemporary. I read a lot of Contemporary Romance, and this book seriously had the healthiest relationship ever. I loved Noah and Echo. I loved how scarred and flawed they both were, and they loved each other despite all of the personal struggles they have. That's a real relationship for me and I just loved them so much! I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read the next book "Dare You To".

I loved this book too! It was amazing. I love this series so much! It's becoming a favorite series of mine and I am obsessed, lol. These books are so addicting, I always have trouble putting them down. I always fly through the books and I read this one very quickly. I'm not gonna put spoilers so this review is pretty short. I don't have too much to say about "Gathering Darkness" anyway. Just know that I loved this book and can't wait to read "Frozen Tides" next. If you haven't read this series yet you need to. Also, Magnus and Cleo are my new OTP, I ship them so hard!

Introduction

Hey guys, I'm back with a review. I am reviewing the second book in the "Shadow Falls" series. I just read the first book and really enjoyed it. The book ended on a cliffhanger so I really wanted to dive into the next book. I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed this book, it was a good sequel. Let's get on to the review. 

Plot-4/5

There wasn't much of a plot. It was basically just about Kylie trying to figure out what she is and just some boy drama. Not much happens which is why I gave it a lower rating. It was entertaining and I was never bored while reading it though so I thought I would give the plot a generous rating. 

Setting-5/5

I'm still giving the setting a perfect rating because I love where these books take place. I love being at the camp, it's so cool!

Writing-4/5

I like the author's writing but it's not anything special. She's good at writing dialogue though so I gave it a higher rating. 

Pacing-5/5

Even though I said this book is slower than the first book, I never found it boring. The whole book is enjoyable. The second half was amazing though! The second half had so much action especially towards the end of the book. I'm not gonna lie, I think the reason why I found the first half kind of slow is because Lucas wasn't in the book until the second half. I love Lucas and reading about Kylie and Derek wasn't as entertaining.

Just like with the first book, I love this cover. I actually love all of the covers. I think they are gorgeous. 

Characters-4.5

You're probably wondering why I didn't give the characters a full five. I'll get to that in a minute. I'm not going to go into much detail about the characters because I explained my feelings for them in my review for the first book. I still love Kylie, she's a great main character. I still love all the side characters like, Miranda, Della and Perry. I totally ship Holiday and Burnett. I still love Lucas, he is my dream guy and he stole my heart even more in this book! So the reason why I didn't give the characters a perfect rating is because of Derek. For those of you who've read this book, you'll understand why. I really liked Derek in the first book, but I started to dislike him in this book. I didn't like the way he treated Kylie. She didn't want to be more than friends with him yet because she has to think about which guy she likes better. (You guys should know I'm totally Team Lucas by the way) and I don't ship her with Derek at all. Anyway, he didn't like that she needed more time so he just took off, ignored her and stopped talking to her. Like seriously? This is your friend, why would you treat her that way? You can still talk to her and be around her. So yeah, that's why I don't like him anymore. I can write a book on why I love Lucas. I was reading a lot of pages of "Team Derek or Team Lucas" and I was surprised to see that a lot of people are Team Derek and I'm like, why? I don't get it, Lucas is so much better and he treats her so much better! He would never intentionally ignore her or stop talking to her. Anyway, Derek is not a bad guy but I just hated that he did that. Maybe he will redeem himself in the third book.

The ending of this book was amazing! There was so much action and it ends on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see where this series goes. 

Overall Thoughts

"Awake at Dawn" was a great sequel. I'm really liking this series. I can't wait to read the third book. I'm not sure when I'll read it though, because there's so many other books I wanna get to this month in December. Stay tuned for a review for "Taken at Dusk".
