Book Review: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
Movie Tie-in Paperback Edition, Bought
5 Lily Pads!
No Spoilers!!

Hey, I am back again with another review. Today I will be reviewing "The Fault In Our Stars" by John Green. Yes, I finally read this book. I was scared to read this book because of all the hype, and I don't like reading dark books. I didn't have to worry, because I loved this book! I can't believe I waited this long to read this book. It was amazing! I cried right after the last page.

Plot:

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.

My Opinion:

Like I said before, this book was so good! I didn't think I was going to like it, but this book really surprised me. It was so good, I read it in 2 days! It usually takes me a week to read a book and this one took me only 2 days! It was so good, I couldn't put it down. John Green is a fantastic writer. This is the first book I've read from him, and it won't be my last! This book made me cry and I got so attached to the characters. I also felt I could relate to Hazel. I loved Hazel and Gus because they were so different. They were so mature, intelligent and wise for teenagers. Their characters were so well developed. I also loved Isaac. This book never bored me and it touched me in so many ways. I had no problems with this book at all. I loved that Hazel and Gus bonded over a book. They loved each other, they help each other. Their relationship was so cute! There were times where I laughed because the dialogue is funny. This book has so many quotes and great dialogue. This book wasn't depressing at all. It was sad, but Gus and Hazel didn't just obsess over them having cancer and dying. They went out and had fun. They both love this author and they go to Amsterdam to visit him. Gus was such a great guy. I wish I knew a guy like him. The ending was so sad, but I already knew what was going to happen. I cannot wait for this movie to come out. I can't wait!! They got the perfect cast. I know Shailene, Ansel and Nat are going to do a great job! This will be a classic in the future and I think everyone should read this book. This was such an easy book to get through and will always be a favorite of mine. If you haven't read "The Fault In Our Stars" you need to read it now!!! I recommend everyone to buy this book and share it with your friends and family. John Green did such an amazing job with this book, I am so glad I finally read it. This book is so worth the hype. That's my review! Sorry this review wasn't as long as usual. It's hard to review it without spoilers. I know most people have read this book, but if you come across this book, and you haven't read it yet, there's no spoilers. Soon I will do a review on my YouTube channel. So check out my channel if you haven't already. That's my quick review and stay tuned for more. Okay? Okay, goodbye!:) p.s- If you read the book you will get the "Okay? Okay" part. :) Bye!

Book Review: My Life Next Door

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
Hardcover Edition, Borrowed from Library
2 Lily Pads!
Number of Pages-394
Possible Spoilers!

I am back with a new review, yay! Today I will be reviewing "My Life Next Door" by Huntley Fitzpatrick. I will start this review by telling you, I didn't like this book that much. I didn't even finish it, but I thought I would still review it. It was okay, I just decided to put this book down because I didn't want to read it anymore. It wasn't terrible, it's just some things bothered me about this book, which made me not want to read it anymore. Anyway, read on to see why I didn't like this book.

Plot:

The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, messy, affectionate. And every day from her rooftop perch, Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs up next to her and changes everything.

As the two fall fiercely for each other, stumbling through the awkwardness and awesomeness of first love, Jase's family embraces Samantha - even as she keeps him a secret from her own. Then something unthinkable happens, and the bottom drops out of Samantha's world. She's suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself?

A transporting debut about family, friendship, first romance, and how to be true to one person you love without betraying another.

My Opinion:

So, like I said before, I didn't love this book. This book had so much potential. The plot sounded so good and I've been wanting to read this book for a long time. I thought the book was going to be a cute, contemporary romance, that I was in the mood for. Sadly, my expectations were too high. This book has such good reviews. I borrowed this book from my library recently because I am a member of the Chick Lits bookclub on goodreads. This book was the monthly read for May. I didn't finish the book, but I will still watch the liveshow. Anyway, sorry for the rambling.

So I liked this book in the beginning. It was going to be 5 lily pads, and I'll tell you why I liked the book at first.
I liked the main character, Samantha in the beginning. She was a nice, good girl that was very lonely. Since her sister was always gone, she would stay by herself. For years she used to sit on her roof and watch the family next door. She always liked the family but her mom doesn't approve of them. The Garretts are so different from Sam's family, that's why her mom hates them. They were messy, loud people, Sam's family is different. They are perfectionists. Her mom is a state senator, and is a neat freak. They are also rich. Even though I liked Sam in the beginning, she bothered me because she was too perfect. She was described as perfect. She was a good girl; really pretty, has blond hair, has the perfect body, she is a straight-A student in school, and is an athlete. To me, she was too perfect. I like reading books when the main character has flaws. Anyway, one of the boys next door, Jase comes up her roof one day. They start to talk to each other and soon they fall in love. First off, let me say I really liked Jase. He was such a nice guy. There are times in the book when he asked Sam to babysit his little siblings. I loved that part, because I love his family. They are so nice. I liked how Sam gave advice to Jase's younger sister too. What got me to dislike the book is the romance between Sam and Jase. I knew they were going to be together, but I didn't know it was going to happen the way it did. I didn't like it. I felt their relationship was cute at first, when they were friends. All a sudden, they just hooked up. They didn't even tell each other they had feelings for each other. They just randomly started kissing. Halfway through the book when they were "together" they didn't even go on a date. How can you date someone, when you didn't even go out once? Another thing that bothered me was they were so obsessed with each other too quickly. Not even halfway through the book, they told each other they "loved" each other. Gag. It was too fast. If you guys know me, I really hate insta-love. I liked them better as friends. They didn't have to date. I felt like at first the author wanted the romance to develop slowly, and then after awhile she wanted them to be together already, so all a sudden they were together. Like I said they were "in love" way too fast. I sort of thought Jase was too good for Samantha. Also before I said I hated how they first hooked up. So here's the story. They were at the beach together all a sudden Sam says, "You have to kiss me" and then Jase says "Yeah, I do". After that they had a steamy make-out session. I was like "What?" I didn't even know Jase liked her. Isn't that the lamest way to get together, forcing a guy to kiss you. Ugh!! Like I said they never even went on a date, and they even had sex. What? It just happened way too fast for me which is why I didn't enjoy their romance. It only bothered me, everyone else loved the romance. I like the traditional way when, the guy asks the girl out, and then they go on a date. That didn't even happen in the book, they just got together and hooked up. Like I said before, they loved each other too fast. Honestly, they didn't know each other that well. This book frustrated me. I heard there's some drama that happens later in the book but, I didn't care anymore. I don't know what happened. Another reason why I put down the book is because, halfway through, I didn't like Sam anymore. She went from being a likable character to someone I didn't like. She was annoying and always complained about her mother. She was also selfish at times. I just didn't like her anymore. Her mom was really annoying too. The only characters I liked were Jase and his family. Yep, so this book annoyed me. I was disappointed because I wanted to read this book for a long time. I thought I would like it because everyone else did. :( That's why I gave the book 2 Lily Pads. If I finished the book, I would've given it a 3. Even though I didn't like this book, I still recommend other people to read it. If you like reading about a perfect character and a rushed relationship, you should read this book. I will still read Huntley's other books. I think this book is worth a rent or borrow it from the library. I thought I was getting into a reading slump because I haven't been loving books lately. But the other day I picked up "The Fault In Our Stars" by John Green and I loved it! I read TFIOS in two days! It usually takes me a week to finish a book. Anyway, stay tuned for a review for TFIOS soon, and watch my video review on my youtube channel. The review started off long, but I took out all the spoilers so the review is short. Please check out my booktube channel. Thanks for reading this long review, see you later. :) Happy Reading!

Update!

Hey there, here is a quick update. I decided to join the "Bout of Books 10.0" Read-athon! If you don't know what it is, it's a reading challenge. It's started today, and ends on Sunday May 18. Basically, you just have to read as many books as you can. I am currently reading "My Life Next Door" and I really like it so far. Today I read 70 pages, so I won't finish it by the end of the day. Here are all the books I will hopefully read for the read-athon.

1. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

I've wanted to read this book for a long time. I'm reading it now because I'm in a group on goodreads. The group is reading this book for the month and there will be a liveshow at the end of the month. I'm really enjoying it so far.

2. City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

If you didn't already know, I love this series. I read the first three books and loved them. I will do a  review on the whole series, once I read all the books. There is a "Mortal Instruments" read-along. This month it's Fallen Angels and Lost Souls. I started reading this book, and I like it. I put it down to read "My Life Next Door".

3. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

I know, I'm really late. I haven't read this book yet. I was scared to read it because of the hype. I bought it recently and I will be reading it before the movie comes out next month. I really want to see the movie!!

4. City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

This is the fifth book in the series. I will be reading this after I read "City of Fallen Angels." I love the cover. It's my favorite cover out of all the books :)

So yeah, this was just an update. I will do a review soon so stay tuned. I will do a wrap-up on my YouTube channel, and on here so stay tuned for more. Don't forget to vote on the right! Thank you, happy reading!

Book Review: Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Paperback Edition, bought
5 Lily Pads
No Spoilers!

Hey guys! I am finally writing a review for "Onyx". I filmed a review on my channel so if you want to check it out, click on my profile on the left. Also please subscribe for updates. Anyway, I sort of put off doing this review for a few days, because I didn't think it was necessary to do this review, because it's the second book in the "Lux" series. Anyway, let's get on with the review. :)

So normally I would put the plot of the book, but since this is the second book in a series, I won't because I don't want to put any spoilers. My video review has spoilers but I will leave them out here.

This book was really good. I really enjoyed "Obsidian". I gave it 4 Lily Pads. I love the characters, and the writing style. I thought it was cool that the series is about aliens. I never read books with aliens before, and I enjoyed it. I loved the main character, Katy. She is such a lovable character. I can really connect to her, and she's a book blogger, which is awesome! Daemon was likable because his character developed alot in "Onyx". In the first book, he was a huge jerk, but in this book he is a really great guy. I love Katy's best friend Dee. Dee is also Daemon's brother and she is so nice. This book was a great sequel and I'm surprised by how much I loved it. I am excited to read the next book "Opal". I also heard "Obsidian" might become a movie. It would be a great movie, especially if they include all the dialogue between Katy and Daemon. Like I said, this series is really good and I can understand the hype. I'm not reading the next book right now because I am doing the "Mortal Instruments" read-along with other booktubers. I am also reading "Daughter of Smoke & Bone" by Laini Taylor. So this book was better than the first book, I really recommend this series, it is very good. That's my little quick review. I left out spoilers, which is why the review is short. Anyway, that's my review and stay tuned for more. Also if you haven't please check out my channel and subscribe for more. Thanks for reading! Happy Reading!
