Book Review: The Snow Bride
The Snow Bride by Debbie Macomber
Hardcover Edition
Borrowed
Pages- 234
Stars-3
Spoilers!
Hey there, I'm back again with another book review. I will be reviewing "The Snow Bride"
I thought this was a simple, cute read. I didn't love it but didn't hate it. It was good but not great.
This is the first book I've read from Debbie Macomber. I want to read her other book "Starry Night." My Grandma let me borrow this book and that was so nice of her. :) Anyway, let's get on with the review.
Summary(Front flap of book)
A Snowbound Christmas... A second-chance bride!
Practical Jenna Campbell has done something impractical. She's met a man on the internet and now, a month before Christmas, she's going to Alaska to marry him. Dalton Gray seems to be everything she wants in a husband-sensitive, gallant, romantic...
On the flight to Fairbanks, she has the misfortune to sit beside Reid Jamison, who obviously isn't sensitive, gallant or romantic. However, he's not impressed with her plan to marry Dalton, a man he detests(for good reason, as Jenna later finds out). So Reid takes it upon himself to change her destination-and her marriage plans.
Which is why Jenna ends up at Reid's cabin in tiny Snowbound, Alaska. It's currently a one-woman town(and the other Woman's out of town). That leaves Reid, a bunch of eccentric, old men, a few grizzly bears- and Jenna. Kidnapped! And then there's a blizzard. The two of them alone, stranded in Snowbound...
Hmm. Maybe she'll be a Christmas bride, after all!
My Thoughts
First of all, the summary sounds much better than the actual book. The book wasn't as exciting as it seemed. I did like the book, I just didn't love it. Read on to find out why.
Let's start with the plot. I thought the plot seemed interesting. A girl meets a guy online and travels to Alaska to meet him. On the way there she meets a guy and he doesn't approve of the man. He takes her to his place and his town. Gee, I wonder what happens next?
I knew it was going to be predictable. It's that typical love story. The girl is planning to be with a guy, meets another guy and falls in love with him. Yes, it was insta-love because the book is so short. I actually didn't hate it. It didn't bother me like it did in "Eleanor & Park." The book was interesting, I didn't get bored reading it at all. I really liked Jenna. She was a nice girl but could be dumb sometimes. The book was fine but the romance didn't do it for me. That was why I gave this book 3 stars. It seemed like a cute romance, but it wasn't. The romance would have been good if it wasn't rushed. Jenna and Reid knew each other for less than 4 days, and they secretly loved each other? I didn't buy it, especially because they argued the whole time. They barely got along and one moment they start kissing. Okay, maybe they had some decent moments when they actually talked to each other. The main reason I hated the romance was because of Reid. Honestly, I didn't like him, at all. He seems like this nice guy who was trying to protect Jenna from Dalton but I just hated him. He was so rude and grumpy all the time. He didn't treat Jenna right. I understand he didn't have much experience with Women and his mom abandoned him but that gives him no right to be mean to Jenna. He was also bossy at times. He also spoke for her a couple of times in a rude way. I wanted to say, "let her speak for herself". I didn't believe that he loved her at all. He acted like he loathed her the whole 3 days she spent with him. I couldn't see why Jenna loved him. I just didn't like him. He was a better guy than Dalton. I knew from the beginning that Dalton was a jerk. I'm glad Jenna turned him down. I liked the other characters. The old men she hung around had more personality than Reid. I liked Reid's sister Lucy. I liked Jenna's mom but didn't approve of what she did. Her mom has been married five times and got divorced because they weren't the right guy for her. What bothered me was, she came to Alaska to get her daughter, she met a guy. She didn't know him for an hour, and she fell in love with him. What? He felt the same way about her. Now she wants to stay in Alaska to be with the guy and she keeps saying "he's the one" blah, blah, blah. She doesn't know anything about him. It was so unrealistic, it bothered me. She should have known better than to fall into his trap. He's not a bad guy, but really he just met her and didn't want her to leave him. What? The ending was satisfying to the characters but not to me. Sorry to spoil it, but the title of the book spoils it anyway. So after barely knowing Reid for less than 3 days, she marries him. Also her mom marries that guy she barely knows too. Ugh. Do people not understand nowadays, that you should really get to know a person before marrying them? That's what leads to divorces, not knowing the guy well enough. Why rush into relationships? Well, this book taught me a few lessons. Don't trust a guy online and go visit him. He may not be as sweet as he seems. Also don't rush into a relationship after barely knowing a guy for a week, let alone a day. Even though I had these problems with the book, I still enjoyed it. The dialogue was good but ugh, I just couldn't stand Reid. Maybe I'm the only one who didn't like him. I think Jenna deserves better than him. I'm rambling sorry. I didn't think I had this much to say about this book. Would I recommend it? Yeah if you like sappy books with an unlikable love interest and a rushed relationship. If you like that, read it. If your like me, don't read it. I recommend to borrow it. It wasn't worth a buy and I'm glad I didn't buy it. Overall I liked it, didn't love it.
That's my review and stay tuned for more, bye!

Burn For Burn Book Review: Does an eye for a eye really make the world blind?
Burn For Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian
Hardcover Edition-Bought
4 Stars!
Pages:356
No Spoilers!
Hey there! I'm back with another book review. I am reviewing "Burn For Burn". Before I start the review let me tell you, I love Jenny Han's books! "The Summer I Turned Pretty" Trilogy is one of my favorite series of all time. I love Jenny's work. She is one of my favorite authors. I haven't read any books from Siobhan yet, but I will. They did a great job with this book. Let's begin!
Summary (Inside Flap)
\
Big Girls Don't Cry... They Get Even.
Postcard-Perfect Jar Island is the kind of place where nobody locks their doors at night. Where parents can sleep easy, knowing their daughters are tucked away safe and sound in their beds.
But bad things can happen, even to good girls, and sometimes the only way to make things right is to do something wrong. Lillia used to trust boys, but not anymore. Not after what happened this summer. She doesn't want anything to happen to her little sister.
Kat is through with being called a freak. She's over the rumors, the insults, the cruel jokes made at her expense. It all goes back to one person-her ex-best friend-and Kat's ready to make her pay.
Four years ago, Mary left Jar Island because of a boy. But she's not the same girl anymore. Now that she's back, he's gonna be in trouble... cause she's coming after him.
Three very different girls who want the same thing: sweet, sweet revenge. And they won't stop until they've each had a taste.
My Thoughts:
What I didn't like:
Overall I really liked this book. It wasn't amazing and didn't wow me at all but I liked it. There's some things I didn't like.
The swearing.
This book had way too much swearing. I don't swear at all and I've read books with lots of swears but there were too much in this book. It annoyed me and I had to skip over them. The swears weren't even necessary.
The slow pacing.
The pacing for this book was really slow. I got bored almost halfway. I told myself to keep reading and it got alot better. After the 200th page the action begins. I liked how everything built up to the revenge but the pacing could have been faster.
Some characters.
Lillia, Mary and Kat were fine. I liked all of them and they were unique in their own ways. I think Mary's my favorite. I don't know why. There wasn't too much info about her in the book and I felt sorry for her. I liked Lillia, she's rich and popular but she's really nice and caring. Kat was good too. She is a loner, bad girl who smokes and drinks. I liked her because she had good intentions for things.
I hated Rennie. She was so mean to people. Whenever she was nice, it was fake. I wanted Lillia to stop being friends with her. Rennie was so mean to Kat. Is that how you should treat your old friend? I don't think so.
Reeve, I hated him too. He was such a jerk but I felt bad for him in the end.
Alex, he was okay. I didn't get to know too much about him. He didn't have much of a personality. I hope he's in the second book more.
What I liked:
Everything else.
The book kept my interest. The girls learned their lessons for trying to get revenge. The writing style was great.
That's it. I didn't want to spoil anything even though it was hard not to. This book was a great read, and was different. Just so you know, there's not really any romance in this book. If you're looking for a romance book this isn't for you. I was fine reading a book with no romance, because I needed a change. But I still love my romance books. This book was good not worth 5 stars though. Would I recommend it? Yes! It was worth reading. Everyone should read this book if you like high school drama. I think its worth a buy. You should buy the next book "Fire with Fire" too because there is a cliffhanger at the end. I don't have the second book but I really want to read it. Anyway that's my review and I'll see you guys later, bye!

Do we all need to Awaken? Book Review: Awaken
Awaken- Katie Kacvinsky
Paperback Edition-Bought
4 Stars!
Pages: 309
No Spoilers!
Hey there, I'm back with another review. This time I will be reviewing "Awaken" by Katie Kacvinsky. To start off, I wanted this book for a long time. I found it while on a trip in New Hampshire and thought I had to get it. This book was good but it was not my favorite book. I didn't amaze me but it was still good. Read on to find out why I didn't love it.
Plot (Backcover)
Maddie lives in a world where everything is done on the computer. Work, school, even dating can be done from home, and people do not venture out. Maddie plays soccer, and likes the physicality and camaraderie of team sports, but for the most part, she's okay with the solitary digital life-until she meets Justin. Justin likes being with people. He enjoys the physical closeness of face-to-face interactions. People aren't meant to be alone, he tells her. Suddenly, Maddie feels something awakening inside her-a feeling that maybe there is a different, better way to live. And maybe it's his attentiveness, or the physical closeness of actually being with someone, or just that he's very good looking, but Maddie is definitely drawn to Justin. Then Maddie uncovers the truth. Justin belongs to a group that wants to change the world, starting with destroying Digital School. Madeline's father created Digital School, and the group knows she doesn't fully support her dad's work. Plus, she can hack into his computer. Maddie feels used. Is Justin only with her because of who her father is? Or does he really have feelings for her as well?
My Thoughts
So this book sounded much better than it was. I didn't love it, but didn't hate it. I liked that the book is a dystopian because I need to read more than contemporary. I thought the plot sounded realistic because of all the technology we have. It wasn't boring because I was able to finish the whole book. This book got me thinking about how bad it is to stay indoors on the computer instead of going outside and enjoying life. The author's writing style was fine. I liked the characters, but didn't love them. I didn't get attached to them like I did in "Catching Jordan". I liked Maddie. She was different and she tried to destroy digital school. I didn't love Justin that much. He wasn't a terrible guy, I just didn't care for him. The romance between Maddie and Justin shouldn't have been in the book. Now, I'm a hopeless romantic and love reading romances, but this book would have been better without the love story. I didn't really believe the whole romance. Also Justin stayed away from her alot because he can't be with people all the time. The romance was a little rushed, not too bad like other books. I just didn't love it. The characters didn't really draw me in. The only character I really liked was Clare. She was nice. Also, I just found out this is a trilogy, so not much happens in this book. I guess there's more action in the next book. Will I read the second book? Maybe. I'm not dying to read it since I didn't love this book. I was generous to give this book 4 stars instead of 3. Would I recommend it? It's worth a read but you should borrow it from the library first. It's not worth a buy, even though I bought it. Sorry my review is so short! Honestly I don't have much to say about this book. It was just okay. You should read this book but don't be in a hurry to. That's my review and stay tuned for more!
I will be reading "Burn For Burn" next.

Book Review: Catching Jordan
Spoilers!
Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally
Paperback Edition, bought
5 Stars!!
Pages:281
Hey guys, I am back with a new review! I will be reviewing "Catching Jordan". First let me tell you that I loved this book so much! Miranda Kenneally is a great writer and is one of my new favorite authors. I started this book yesterday and finished it today. Normally it takes me a week to read a book, but I read this so fast because I loved it! I haven't heard much hype about this book. I found it on Amazon and I've been wanting to read this book for a long time. I'm so glad I finally picked it up! Let's get on with my review:
Plot(backcover):
What Girl doesn't want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn't just surrounded by hot guys, though-she leads them as the captain and quarterback of her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys and that's just fine. As long as she gets her athletic scholarship to a powerhouse university. But everything she's ever worked for is threatened when Ty Green moves to her school. Not only is he an amazing quarterback, but he's also amazingly hot. And for the first time, Jordan's feeling vulnerable. Can she keep her head in the game while her heart's on the line?
My Thoughts:
Okay like I said before I loved this book! This book is so amazing I can't stop thinking about it. This book made me so happy and everything turned out exactly how I wanted it to be. This book is about a seventeen year old girl named Jordan. She is a tomboy and is the leader of her school's football team. She is very successful and wants to play football in college. Her dad is a famous football player, and so is her brother. But her father doesn't want her to play football because she's a girl. Jordan doesn't think there's anything wrong with her playing on the guys team. All the guys respect her and treat her well. So everything is going fine in her life, until the new guy, Tyler (Ty) moves to her school. He is hot and he's the first guy Jordan's attracted to. She's never had a boyfriend before. The problem is, Ty's an awesome quarterback but the position's taken by Jordan. She's scared he's going to steal her spot on the team. Soon she becomes good friends with him and crushes on him. Eventually they date which makes Jordan's best friend Sam Henry mad. Jordan and Sam have been best friends for ten years. Sam always had feelings for Jordan but she never knew until his ex-girlfriend told her. After that Sam ignores Jordan and stays away from her for a while. Why? Mostly because he's jealous of Ty and he hates Ty. Who does Jordan choose? Will she get the scholarship she's been wanting for years?
Sorry I dragged out the plot so much. Here's my opinion. I loved this book so much! I didn't think I would like it because I hate football. Really, I hate it. The book was so good though. I loved Jordan. She was such a strong and unique character. She didn't let people push her around and didn't give up her dream no matter what. She's a tomboy which is very different to read about. She has a close relationship with her family, which I liked. Family is so important. At first, I hated her father. He didn't support her at all, and treated her badly. He never even came to one of her games, but he goes to all her brother's games. By the end of the book, he accepted Jordan's passion and he cheers her on. I'm glad he changed for the better. I loved all of Jordan's guy friends. They are all on the team with her. They are not cocky or shallow. They all care about Jordan and stand up for her. I loved Sam the most. Oh my! He was such a good guy! He's so sweet, caring and everything you could want in a guy. I felt so bad for him when Jordan was dating Ty. It was so obvious that he likes her, and she never knew. I am so glad she chose him at the end. I love him so much!
As for Ty, I hated him. I didn't like him at all. In the beginning I thought he was okay but I just don't like him. He was so controlling to everyone on the team. When he dates Jordan he was very controlling. I thought he was kind of a jerk. He hated Sam because he's so close to Jordan. Really, I hated him. When Jordan dated him I wanted to yell" Dump him already!!" Seriously, I hated him. I am so happy she finally dumped him and went back to Sam. Okay, I felt bad for Ty because of his family. I just didn't like him. If you read the book, you'll know why I hated him. She really deserved a great guy and Sam was perfect for her. The ending made me so happy! I love how she actually ends up with her best guy friend who was always there for her, instead of the new hot guy. In most novels the girl chooses the new guy instead of her guy friend she's known for years. Yes, I am obsessed with this book. It needs hype!! If you love books with romance, friendship, family and dreams then I recommend this book for you. Buy, borrow? Buy this book now! It's too good to borrow, you need to buy this book now! This book was amazing. I have Miranda's newest book "Racing Savannah" on my shelf and will be reading it. Like I said, one of my new favorite books so buy this book now!
Also I will be starting "Awaken" soon. That's it for today, bye!

Quick Reviews!
Hey there I'm back! I haven't blogged in a while because I've been reading books. I wasn't in the mood to write reviews so I stopped for a bit. I'm back now, with more reviews. I decided to put reviews together this time instead of doing separate reviews for each book. I'm not going to go into too much detail because I just want to do quick reviews. Some of the books I didn't even finish. So yeah here it is.
1) The Maze Runner by James Dashner
There is so much hype for this series. I wasn't interested in reading it, but my sister has the book so I thought I would give it a try. The beginning was good but later I got bored with the book. I didn't really care about what happened to all the characters. It wasn't so me. I didn't finish it. My sister couldn't get into the book either. I think you should still give it a try it just wasn't for me.
2) Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn.
I heard about this book and thought it would be a cute read. I read it in the winter in December and I really liked it. It kept me interested and I liked the characters. This is the perfect book to read in the winter. It was good but I didn't like the ending. The book just ended. I really did like it and give it 4 stars!
3) The Reluctant Bachelorette by Rachael Anderson
This book was really cute. It's about a girl who was forced to be a Bachelorette and has to choose a guy. I liked it, and the romance was good. The plot was predictable but who cares? It's a romance. I gave it 5 stars!
4) Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler
I really liked this book! It was so good and different. This is the second book I've read from the author and I liked this book a lot more. The romance was cute, the character development was so good, and the book had a great message. Sarah Ockler is a great author and I will be reading her other books. I gave this book 5 stars! This book is great to read in the winter.
5) Eve by Anna Carey
I didn't really like this book. It is a dystopian. It was confusing and the plot was dumb. I liked the main character, Eve. Also this book kind of has insta-love, which I don't like at all. I don't know. Maybe I will give this book another try. Honestly I didn't finish the book. I haven't heard much hype about this series but my sister really liked this book.
So that is all the books I've recently read. I know the reviews are short but I didn't feel like posting a long review for each book. Maybe I will write a review for "Bittersweet" because that one was my favorite out of all the books. Even I though I didn't like some of the books, I still recommend anyone to read these books. That's it for now, I will hopefully update more soon, bye.
