Book Review: Being Friends With Boys

Being Friends With Boys
by Terra Elan McVoy

Hardcover Edition-Bought

5/5 Lily Pads

Pages-360

No Spoilers!!

Hey book lovers, I'm back with a review. Today I am reviewing "Being Friends With Boys". I really loved this book. It was such a good contemporary book. Contemporary is my favorite genre and this book didn't disappoint. I haven't heard anything about this book so I guess I'll have to start the hype :)Let's get on with the review!

` The Plot

Being Friends With Boys is about a girl named Charlotte. She is a Senior in High School. She has a normal life, she has stepsisters and a stepmother, but their not evil. Charlotte is close to her family. Charlotte doesn't have any girl friends because they left Charlotte. Now Charlotte has all guy friends and she's okay with it. Her guy friends are all in a band together. Charlotte writes the lyrics. There's Oliver, who is Charlotte's best guy friend. Trip is another best friend of hers. There's also Abe. The book starts with Oliver kicking Trip out of the band. Charlotte is sad that Trip is no longer in the band, she tries to stay in touch with Trip but eventually, he gets his own group of friends. Since Trip is out of the band, Oliver is holding auditions for more members. The new members are Eli, and Fabian. Charlotte develops a crush on Fabian, but it turns out he doesn't feel the same way. They end up being really good friends. Basically throughout the book, Charlotte tries to keep her friends together and she becomes a new singer in the band. This book is just about her life.

  My Opinion

This book was hard for me to describe because not much happens because its a contemporary. What did I think of this book? I loved it! It was such an amazing contemporary book. The writing was very simple and the pacing was good. The book was long but it kept me entertained the whole time. The reason why I gave this book a 5 is because of the characters. I loved the characters, they were so well developed and that's why I love contemporary books. I loved the main character Charlotte. She was so normal, nice and I felt I could relate to her. She didn't try to be fake to get boys attention and she's very modest. I like how she's strong and she just wanted to be herself, she never tried to change for anyone. I thought her best friend Oliver was okay. He could be a jerk at times. I loved Trip, he was a good guy. My favorite guy in the book was Fabian. I loved him. I could see why Charlotte was attracted to him, he was so nice and he was such a good person and a great friend. I just loved him. I loved her family. Her sister Jilly is at college most of the time but I like how she's close to her stepsisters, Darcy and Gretchen. She was also close to her stepmom, and her Dad. I really liked that because in books, usually the stepsisters are evil and it was just refreshing to read. I loved how she was close to her family. This book is mostly about a band and I loved that because I am a musician myself. At first, Charlotte just writes songs for the band, but later in the book, she becomes one of the singers in the band. I loved that she tried something different. She didn't want to sing, but Eli suggested for her to sing in the band too. It gave her more confidence. Overall, this book was so good and I really recommend this book to anyone who loves music. If your looking for a underrated book with amazing characters and a good plot, I would recommend it. It was a light, cute book and I think its worth a buy. Thank you all so much for watching. Stay tuned for more soon, bye :)

Book Review: Hereafter

Hereafter by Tara Hudson

Paperback Edition-Bought

5/5 Lily Pads

Pages-404

Would I recommend it? Yes!

No Spoilers!

Hey everyone, I'm back with a review. Today I am reviewing "Hereafter" by Tara Hudson. This is the first book in the "Hereafter" trilogy. I really loved this book. This book has been on my TBR for a long time and I'm so glad I finally read it. Let's get on with the review.

The Plot

Hereafter is about a girl named Amelia. She can't remember anything except her first name. She is a ghost and she doesn't know how or why she died. She lives in a dark river. One day Amelia sees a boy drowning in the water. She rescues him and saves his life. His name is Joshua and they become very close. Josh is one of the only ones who can see Amelia. He is called a "Seer". They can see and hear ghosts and its very rare. When Amelia is around Josh, she can remember things about herself that she couldn't before. They end up falling for each other, even though they have different lives. There is another guy who can see Amelia. His name is Eli and he's been watching her for years. He stalks her and tells Amelia they are meant to be together. Amelia doesn't like him and she tries to stay away from him, but he's the only one that can give her answers. It turns out Eli chose her to be with him because he needs her help. There is another world where Eli takes ghost and makes them go to the dark world, and they can never leave. Amelia doesn't want to go there, she wants to be able to go to both worlds and wants to stay with Josh. Later she is forced to choose between Josh and Eli. Which life does she choose?

My Opinion

I apologize for my bad description of this book. It sounded easier to describe in my head. It's hard to describe it without spoilers. If you want a better description, look it up on goodreads. So what did I think of this book? I loved it! It was so cool, dark and unique. I never read anything like this before. I'm starting to get into the paranormal genre and I love books about ghosts. First I'm going to talk about the writing. I loved Tara's writing style, it was beautiful and unique. It was very descriptive. The pacing was fine. The first 50 pages were a little slow, but it got better. The book felt very long. For those of you who love books with a lot of action, this isn't the book for you. I personally loved this book even though there wasn't much action. This book was more telling than showing and there was more description than dialogue. I still liked the book though, even though I usually love lots of dialogue. Now let's talk about the characters. I really liked Amelia, she was a very nice, brave and good girl. I thought it was really cool that I got to read a book from a ghost's POV. It was really cool and unique. I loved her love interest, Joshua. He was the sweetest, nicest guy. You can tell he really loves Amelia and he really cares about his family. He loves to read, and I just loved him. I really liked the romance in this book. Most people would probably say the romance was insta-love. I usually hate insta-love but to me, I didn't think the romance was rushed, even though Amelia and Josh only knew each other for a few days. The romance was very cute. I didn't really care for Eli. He is supposed to be a villain and he reminded me of Warner from "Shatter Me" and I hate Warner. That's probably why I didn't like him. This book was very entertaining and I was never bored while reading this book. Tara Hudson is a great author and I want to read the last two books in this trilogy. Overall, I think this book is worth a buy. If you love paranormal books about ghosts and well-developed characters, I would recommend this book. That's it for my review, thank you so much for reading. I will be filming a review on my channel soon so stay tuned for more. Bye :)

Book Review: Need

Need by Carrie Jones

4.5 Lily Pads

No Spoilers

Would I Recommend it? Yes

Hey readers, I am back with a review. Today I am reviewing "Need" by Carrie Jones. This is the first book in the "Need" series. What did I think about this book? I really, really liked it. It was different and entertaining. Let's get on with the review.

The Plot

This will be a spoiler free review, so I will try my best to describe this book. There may be a tiny spoiler, but it's not really a spoiler, does that make sense?

Need is about a girl named Zara(rhymes with Sarah)who lives a dangerous life. Her stepfather recently died, so she's sad. Her biological father is gone, she doesn't know what happened to him. Her mom thinks Zara is in danger so she makes Zara move to Maine to live with Zara's grandmother. Zara is the new girl in town, and she's still not over her father's death. Zara goes to a new school, and makes some new friends named Issie and Devyn. She also meets the popular bad boy named Nick, and the overachiever, Ian. Zara is living her life, when she discovers there have been murders in town. Two boys are missing and no one knows what happened to them. Also, Zara always hears mysterious noises, and whenever she goes outside, she hears someone calling her name. Zara learns that there is something very weird and mysterious going on, and she wants to figure out who's killing the residents. Zara discovers that the town has pixies and werewolves, and other strange creatures.

 My Opinion

I really liked this book. It was so different and unique. I haven't read many paranormal books, but I want to read more from the genre.
This book takes place in Maine and there's snow and its always cold there. The setting was perfect for me to read right now, because it's cold out and there's snow outside. This is a really good winter read.
The characters were really well-developed. I loved all the main characters. Zara was a great protagonist, she was so nice, and strong. She's really into saving the world and she was just a great character to read about. She could be clueless at times, but she's pretty smart.
I really liked Nick. Nick is Zara's love interest. He was a nice guy and I loved that he was friends with Zara's other friends too. He's your typical bad boy(not really), supernatural creature that saves the main  character. This isn't a spoiler, but Nick is a werewolf.(Not really a surprise right?) The romance in this book wasn't rushed at all. For some reason, I didn't think it was insta-love, I felt the author developed the romance perfectly.
I loved Zara's grandmother. I also loved her friends Devyn and Issie.  Devyn was so sweet. He got into an accident so he's in a wheelchair most of the time. I just love him, he's such a great guy and a good friend. Issie was one of the sweetest characters. She was so cute and I just loved her personality.
Now let's talk about the plot. The pacing was really good, I never got bored. This book was unique because it's about pixies and I've never read about pixies before, and the pixies aren't good. I liked how the author made up different paranormal creatures like were-tiger and were-eagle. It was different than most paranormal books. I think the writing was good, it was really easy to read and simple. Another reason why the book was unique is, this book doesn't have chapter numbers. Instead there are phobias. The author put a phobia for each chapter and the phobia goes with the chapter and how Zara feels. I thought that was cool. Zara loves phobias so that's why the phobias were there. It was really educational, I got to learn phobias I never heard of before. So yeah, I really liked this book. This book actually got alot of hate, I don't know why. The average rating for Need is 3 stars and I think it deserves more hype. I own the second book "Captivate" so I will read that book in the future. That's my review. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal books. I think this book is worth a buy, I actually got it at a used book store for less than a dollar. This book has been on my TBR for a long time, and I'm glad I gave it a chance. Thank you so much for reading. I will film a review on my channel soon so stay tuned. Bye :)

Recommendations?

Hey everyone, today I decided to write something different. Let me give you an update first. I haven't been reading much lately because I've been reading fanfiction instead of actual books. I'm not in a reading slump. I'm currently reading "Clockwork Prince" but I'm not in the mood to read it right now. I'm actually not sure what I'm in the mood to read right now. I was wondering if you can comment and give me some recommendations. It can be any genre except dystopia, it can be a book you thought was amazing. It doesn't have to be popular, it can be an underrated book.It doesn't have to be YA, it can be a adult book.  If you want, I can write a list of books on my TBR shelf and then you can tell me which one to read. You don't have to comment on this blog, you can recommend a book to me on goodreads. My goodreads link is right here, https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/8953513-stephanie

You don't have to recommend a book to me, I would appreciate it if you did :) That was just a quick update, stay tuned for more, bye.

Book Review: Fancy White Trash

Fancy White Trash by
Marjetta Geerling

Pages-257

Edition-Hardcover

Would I recommend it? Yes!

Rating-5/5 Lily Pads

No Spoilers!

Hey everyone, I am back with a book review. Today I am reviewing "Fancy White Trash" by Marjetta Geerling. What did I think of this book? I really really enjoyed this book so much. It was a very light, funny contemporary book. Contemporary is my favorite genre to read, and this book did not disappoint me. I've been wanting to read this book for a long time and I'm glad I finally read it. I haven't heard anyone talk about this book on booktube, but I read whatever I want to read and this book sounded really good. Oops, I'm rambling, anyway let me tell you what this book is about.

The Plot

Fancy White Trash is about a fifteen year old girl named Abby Savage. She is a normal girl in High School. Her life is fine except for one problem, her family. Her family is completely messed up. Abby watches lots of soap operas and her life is basically one. She thinks her family is so embarrassing and not normal so she always hangs out with her best friend, Cody who lives next door. She also has a crush on Cody's older brother, Jackson. Abby doesn't want to be like her psycho family, but she has to live with them. She just wishes her life was normal. She also has a plan to find her True Love, and her plan has rules.

That's basically the whole plot. I can't say much without spoiling anything. Let me tell you about her family so you can see why her family is messed up. Basically, her family doesn't believe in dating different guys. They all dated the same one. This is actually hard to explain, it might seem confusing but it's not. So, Abby's parents got divorced, so her dad moved out and got married to someone else. Her parents got back together a couple times and then got divorced again. Her mom married a guy named Steve(Abby calls him "The Guitar Player). This is not a spoiler, because it's in the plot description. So, Abby's eighteen year old sister Kait, had flings with Steve. Abby's other older sister, Shelby(who is 21) also hooked up with Steve. The mom didn't know. So Abby's mom and sister Kait are both pregnant and Steve got them both pregnant. Kait has feelings for Steve, but he's with her mom. Also Shelby got divorced and has a baby named Hannah. In the middle of the book Kait has a baby girl named Stephanie(Yay my name, lol!) Abby tries to figure out who Stephanie's dad is. Shelby tells Abby that Jackson is the dad but Abby thinks the dad of the baby is The Guitar Player. Abby doesn't want to be messed up like her family so she tries to find a different guy for her "True Love" plan.

My Opinion

Wow, that was really hard to describe. This book has so much family drama in it, it was insane but it kept me so entertained. One of the reasons why I loved this book so much is because Abby's family is so different from my family. I guess you can say my family is perfect. My sister's aren't messed up, my parents are still together and we never really fight much. Abby's family is very realistic nowadays and I couldn't relate to it but that's why I liked it. I like to read to escape from my life and this was perfect. Another thing I liked about this book was, even though everyone in her family had relationship problems, they all got a happy ending, even Abby. Let's talk about the characters now. I really liked Abby. She is the youngest in her family and she was mature and she always helped her family. She didn't want to turn out like her family, she wanted to be normal. I was so happy Abby didn't get messed up. She stayed true to herself, and she was just a great character. I can see why she wanted to find a different guy. I loved her best friend Cody. Cody is gay so him and Abby don't have feelings for each other, which I loved because in every book now, the best friends like each other but they are just friends. Abby tries to find Cody a partner too. I just loved Cody because he was such a good friend. He always helped Abby and cheered her up when she was upset. I liked her love interest, Jackson. He seemed like a nice guy and he is actually three years older than Abby. Even though Abby's family is so messed up, I actually liked reading about them. I didn't really like her sister Shelby but I liked Kait. The pacing was perfect, I was never bored and the book was pretty short. I liked how the book ended, and it was a very entertaining read. I think this book is worth a buy. If you love contemporary books that are funny, cute and light, I really recommend this book. It made me feel thankful for my good family. This book was so realistic, it should be a movie. Marjetta Geerling is a great author and this book is so underrated. This is her only book but I hope she writes more books in the future. I gave this book 5/5 Lily Pads. Thanks for reading and I will have a review on my channel soon so stay tuned. Bye :)

October Wrap-Up and a Mini Review!

Hey everyone, its November. I know it's a little late, but I'm going to show you all the books I read in October. I read 6 books in October and that's pretty good for me. I usually read about 4 books a month. Let's get on to the wrap-up!

1)  Switched by Amanda Hocking.

This was a great book to start my creepy/paranormal theme for October. I liked this book, it was pretty good. I gave it 4 Lily Pads. I have a review on my blog and my youtube channel if you wanna check those out. Here's my video review if you wanna watch it. :)

2) Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake

I really loved this book. I was scared to read it because I heard it's really creepy but I really enjoyed it. I gave it 5 Lily Pads because the plot was so interesting and I loved the characters. I have to read the sequel, I'll probably borrow it from the library like I did with this book. If your looking for a good creepy, mysterious read, I recommend this book :) I have reviews for Anna on my blog and on my youtube channel. Here's the video

3) Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

This book series has so much hype. It's really popular all over the booktube community. I was hesitant to read it because of the hype, but I finally read it. I thought it was just okay. I gave it 4 Lily Pads because I liked it, I loved the main characters Rose and Lissa,  but there were times when the book was boring, and certain parts made me uncomfortable and grossed out. If you want a more detailed review, check out the review on the blog, and on my channel. Scroll down to watch my review for the book.

4) Cinder by Marissa Meyer

I thought this book was alright. I gave this book 4 Lily Pads. I started reading this book in August for a read-along and I read half of it, but I couldn't get into it so I put it down. In October I decided to pick it up again, and I finished. I liked it but didn't love it. It is dystopian and I don't like dystopian books, but I liked the Cinderella part of it. I just bought the next book "Scarlet" so I want to continue the series because I heard it gets better. I have a review on the blog and a video review up above if you wanna know more about my opinion.

5) Legend by Marie Lu

Honestly, I didn't like this book. It's okay, you can kill me. I know everyone else loved this book but it just wasn't for me. I hate dystopians now because every time I read a dystopian, I end up not liking it, but I loved The Hunger Games. It was slow, boring and I just couldn't get into it. I didn't film a review on my channel yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to film one but I have a review on the blog if you want to read it :) I gave this book 2 Lily Pads.

6) Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K Rowling

I'm reading HP for the first time and I am loving the series so far. The books get better and better. I think this book is my favorite out of the first three. I loved this book so much. It was addicting, and just amazing. I love the world and the characters, I was never bored. I can't wait to read Goblet Of Fire next, I have a review on the blog if you are interested in reading it. I don't have a review on my channel yet. I would recommend Harry Potter to everyone, I am obsessed now. Of course I gave this book 5 Lily Pads. :)

Those were all the books I read in October. October was a good reading month for me, even though I didn't love most of the books I read.
Now I have a quick review for you guys. This is a book I just finished the other day. It is a new released book.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul
by Jeff Kinney

Hardcover Edition

5/5 Lily Pads

No Spoilers!

I loved this book. I love the whole series. I started reading this series when it first came out and I was in middle school. This is the 9th book in the series. As soon as the mail came I started this book and finished it in two hours. The book is about a boy named Greg who is in middle school. Basically in this book, his family goes on a road trip together and it turns into a disaster. The family is so unlucky. I just love this series so much. No one in booktube talks about it. It's middle grade, but its so easy to read and there's pictures on every page. Overall, this book didn't disappoint me and I will continue to buy more books the author writes.

So that was my wrap-up and quick review. I want to thank you so much for reading this and checking out my blog. I really appreciate it :) Stay tuned for more.

Paperback Edition-Bought

5/5 Lily Pads

 No Spoilers!!

Hey book lovers, I am back again with a review. Today I am reviewing "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban". This is my first time reading the series, and so far I am loving all the books! I loved this book, I loved all 3 books. This book was so good, I didn't want to put it down. It had lots of mystery and drama. I didn't want this book to end. Thank God there's 4 more books in this series, I don't want it to end. Anyway, let's get on with the review :)

The Plot

Since this is the third book in the series, I'm not going to describe the plot. My reviews are spoiler-free so if you haven't read this book, you can still read this review.

Without spoiling anything, this book is about Harry's third year at Hogwarts. There is a man named Sirius Black who escaped from Azkaban. He is after Harry.

My Opinion

I didn't describe the book much because I don't want to spoil anything. What did I think of this book? I really really loved it! This book was amazing and I love this series so much! The writing is fast paced and easy to read. The characters are so well developed, I love all of them. This book was so mysterious and intriguing. I didn't want to put the book down, because I had to know what was going to happen next. This series has so many plot twists, and its just so cool! This book wasn't boring at all, I was really into the story. Overall, this book was just so amazing, its been a long time since I read a book I really loved. I can't wait to continue this series. If you are like me, and you never planned to read this series, I really recommend for you to give this book series a try. I read the first book because I wanted to see why this series has so much hype, and now I'm so glad I gave this series a chance. This series is worth a buy, and everyone should read this series. If you are looking for a good fantasy series, that has a really good plot and awesome characters, I really recommend this series. Thank you for reading my review and stay tuned for more. Now I'm gonna go watch the movie. :) Love you all.

Book Review: Legend

Legend by Marie Lu

Paperback Edition-Bought

2/5 Lily Pads

 No Spoilers!

Hey everyone. Today I am reviewing "Legend" by Marie Lu. If you didn't already know, this is the first book in the "Legend" trilogy. I put off reading this book for a long time because of the hype. The hype scared me. I had this book on my shelf for a year and I finally picked it up. What did I think of it? I didn't like this book. I try not to read books that are hyped up because most of the time, I don't like them. I can see why I waited so long to pick this up. This book disappointed me. Before I give you my full opinion, let me give you the plot of this book.

The Plot

From different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths...

Until June's brother is murdered, and Day becomes the prime suspect.

In a shocking turn of events, the two uncover what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths to which their country will go to keep its secrets.

That goodreads summary doesn't tell you much so I'll try to

explain it for you.
Legend is about a girl named June and a boy named Day

They live in a dystopian world, and are separated.
June is in the rich area,

Day lives in the poor area.

Basically, you have to take a test called the trial, the score you get determines how your life will be in the future.

June is a prodigy, she is the smartest fifteen year old, she got the highest score on the trial so she works for the military and lives in the rich part of the district.

Day is a criminal, he is poor and he does crimes to try to save his family, because his family is dying.

One day, June's brother dies and everyone thinks Day killed her brother. June sets out to find Day and they eventually meet. June discovers that Day isn't as bad as everyone thinks.

My Opinion

That's the best summary I can give you. I'm not good at describing dystopian books because they confuse me. Like I said before I didn't really like this book. I know lots of people loved this book, including my sister. The beginning was really good, it captured my attention. Once I got to the middle of the book, it started to go downhill from there. I got bored, and I just couldn't get into the rest of the story. I don't think it was the book that bored me, its the genre. I honestly don't like dystopian books because whenever I read a dystopian, I end up not liking it. I think its just not my type of genre. Dystopians bore me and I don't care about the world building. I like when books focus more on the characters.  Let's talk about the characters. I liked June, she was nice and smart but what bugged me was, the characters didn't have personalities, they were sort of dull. I didn't feel bad for any of the characters. I didn't love Day, even though he was a nice guy, I didn't like him, probably because he was a criminal, even though he has a nice side. I feel the characters weren't well developed. Like I said before the book was so boring, there was lots of action, I just couldn't get into it. This is exactly how I felt when I read "Insurgent". I had to force myself to finish this book, and I didn't even know what was happening, but I'm glad I finished it. I probably won't continue the trilogy. The book wasn't bad, I just didn't like it because I hate dystopians. Overall, I was generous to give this book 2 Lily Pads because even though I didn't like it, Legend wasn't the worst book I've ever read. I would recommend this book if you like dystopian. I think this book would be better as a movie because it would be easier to see the action on screen instead of picturing it in your head. I think you should borrow this book first before you buy it. That's my quick review, I will film a review soon so stay tuned for more, bye :)

Review Mashup: Anna Dressed In Blood, Vampire Academy, Cinder

Hey everyone I am back with 3 new reviews today. I usually don't review more than one book together, but I was due to write a review for Anna Dressed in Blood weeks ago, and I put it off. I decided to combine the books and give each of them a little review. I just finished Vampire Academy and Cinder recently, so I thought I would include those books too. Anyway let's get on with the reviews :)

First I will be reviewing "Anna Dressed in Blood"

Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake

Hardcover Edition-Borrowed from Library

5/5 Lily Pads

No Spoilers!!

Anna Dressed In Blood was a great read. This book was for a read-along in October. My group is on the side of my blog if you want to join. I picked this book because its perfect for October, its creepy and mysterious. I really liked this book. The plot was really good and I liked the characters. Let me give you a summary.

Plot

Anna Dressed In Blood is about a teenage boy named Cas. Hi s job is to kill ghosts. He moves to different towns to kill different ghosts. He moves to a new town, kills the right ghost, and then leaves and moves to a different town. In this book Cas moves to a town, and he doesn't think he's going to stay there long. His mission is to go there and kill a ghost. But his mission is harder this time. He is sent to kill "Anna". People call her "Anna Dressed In Blood" because of the night she died. Anna was on her way to a school dance, then she was murdered. Her dress was white and she got blood all over her dress. That's why people call her "Anna Dressed In Blood". So Cas hears the story and he goes to kill her. Some kids end up getting murdered by Anna and Cas knows this time something is different. It's hard for him to kill Anna because they have a connection and a bond. At school Cas has two friends, Carmel and Thomas. Carmel is the popular girl in school and Thomas is a nobody. Cas takes them with him to the haunted house where Anna is. There is a mystery going around, some boys from school get killed and people are trying to figure out how they got killed and who did it. Cas, Carmel and Thomas try to figure out what happened. Cas usually has no problem killing ghosts but this time, he can't get himself to kill Anna.

I wanted to describe the plot more but I didn't want to put any spoilers in. I'm sure you can predict what happens.

My Opinion

I really loved this book. I didn't think I was going to like it because I usually don't read books about ghosts and killing and stuff like that. I was scared to read this book because I heard its really creepy but it didn't scare me at all. I loved the mystery in this book. I didn't want to put the book down, it was so good. The characters were so likable. I liked Cas, he was a good guy even though some people think he's arrogant, I didn't think he was arrogant. I really liked Carmel, she's the popular girl, the blonde who has the best grades. I thought she would be stuck-up but she was really nice and caring. I also liked Thomas, he was a good guy. My favorite character was Anna. I felt so bad for her. In the book you find out her life story and she had a bad life. I really liked her, she was really nice and I could see why Cas didn't want to kill her. At the end there is a cliffhanger for the next book "Girl of Nightmares". The ending made me cry a little, if you read the book, you'll know what happens. This book didn't gross me out, I usually get grossed out with blood but it didn't bother me. I really want to read the next book. I think I would read this book again, so I might buy a copy and get the second book too. I feel this book is underrated and more people should read it. The writing is good, the pacing is good and I flew through the book.I read this book in 3 days, it usually takes me a week to finish this book, it was just so good I couldn't put it down. I really thought I wasn't going to like this book but I'm glad I gave it a chance. The romance was fine,I thought it was cute. Some people thought the romance was rushed,I have to admit it did just randomly come out of nowhere but I liked it. Obviously I gave this book 5 lily pads. If your looking for a good Halloween creepy book, with a great plot and well developed characters, I really recommend this book. I think it is worth a buy, even though I borrowed it from the library, I would buy myself a copy. Overall, this book was so good and you should read it. That's my review, scroll down to read my review for "Vampire Academy" :) Thanks for reading my review.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

 Paperback Edition-Bought

4/5 Lily Pads

No Spoilers!!

Hey everyone, here is another review. Today I am reviewing "Vampire Academy" by Richelle Mead. I put off reading this book for a long time.  I read this for my book club's read-along in October. I know this series is really popular, especially on booktube. I was scared to read this book because of the hype. I finally read the book. I liked it but I didn't love it. I heard the series gets better. I usually don't read Vampire books. I only read Twilight. Let's get on with the review.

The Plot

I might do a bad job at describing this book, but I'll try my best. Vampire Academy is about a girl named Rose and her best friend, Lissa. Lissa is a Princess and Rose is her bodyguard. They go to a boarding school for vampires and they ran away from the school. They get caught and they go back to the school to finish their senior year. Rose is training to be a guardian to Lissa when she graduates. Lissa and Rose have a bond where they can read each others minds, and feel each others emotions. Since Rose missed school, she is forced to train with the school's instructor, Dimitri. There are good and bad vampires and Lissa is in danger so Rose protects her. They discover secrets and danger in the boarding school.

I'm so sorry I didn't do a good job describing this book. This book is hard to describe and there's not much of a plot. If you want to read the real summary, look it up on goodreads.

My Opinion

Like I said before I was scared to read this because of the hype. My sister loved this series and I haven't heard anything bad about it. I read the first half and then put it down. Here's why. I wasn't warned about this but Lissa is a cutter, she cuts herself whenever she's depressed or something happens. Blood grosses me out, and cutting makes me very uncomfortable, that's why I try to stay away from dark books. I didn't know cutting is in this book and if I knew, I probably wouldn't have read it. It's gross and I was so uncomfortable, I had to put the book down. This book was sort of depressing and I don't like reading dark depressing books. I started reading "Legend" by Marie Lu. I hate not finishing a book so I picked it back up again and skipped the chapter I left off on. I decided to go back and skim it to know what happens so I can continue. I continued the book,Lissa cut herself again and once again,I put it down. I really didn't want to finish the book but I forced myself, even though Lissa continues her problems. At the end of the book, she ends up getting help and that made me so happy. I finally finished the book. I liked the parts about Rose more, but I really liked Lissa and felt bad for her. I'm really happy I made myself finish this book. It wasn't a bad book, the cutting just made me uncomfortable. I enjoyed reading about Rose and Dimitri. I really liked Rose. She was such a different character, I liked her because she's the complete  opposite of me. She's kick butt, sassy, outgoing, and everything I'm not. She always flirts and hooks up with boys. I loved the friendship between Rose and Lissa. I loved how Rose always worried about Lissa and they were just so sweet to each other. The romance was fine, I thought Lissa's romance was cute. The beginning of the book was really slow, but it got better. I thought the plot was unique. The writing style was easy to read, and I liked this book. Overall, I liked this book, I will probably continue the series because I have all the other books. If you like a good vampire book with good characters, I recommend this book.  If your like me and you don't like blood and cutting, I wouldn't recommend this book. I wish I knew about it before I read the book.  I forgot to mention, this book also has lots of swearing in it. I don't swear at all, so that bothered me but I just skipped the cussing. I think you should borrow this book from the library first, to see if you like it. I guess its worth a buy, I bought my copy at a used book store for a dollar. I wouldn't recommend this book for anyone under 15 or 16. That's my review. :) Thanks for reading and scroll down to read my review for "Cinder".

 Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Hardcover Edition- Bought

4/5 Lily Pads

No Spoilers!!

Hey everyone, here is my last review for today. Today I'm reviewing "Cinder" by Marissa Meyer. I was supposed to read this for a read-along two months ago, but I put it down because I couldn't get into it. I decided to pick it up again and finish it and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed this book. I'll go into more detail later.

The Plot
This book is really hard for me to describe, so I'm going to put the goodreads summary here. Basically, this book is a retelling of Cinderella in a dystopian society.

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

My Opinion

I enjoyed this book. I liked it but didn't love it. People said this book was predictable, but it wasn't predictable to me. I read the first half of the book and put it down because I couldn't get into it, it was boring. Two months later I decided to pick it up again. I actually liked it. It's dystopian so I had a hard time reading it. I don't like dystopian books because I never like them,I have a hard time getting into the world. I liked the fairy tale Cinderella retelling. I liked the main character, Cinder. She was a good character, I just really liked her. She's so different. I liked Prince Kai. Something sad happens in this book, I don't want to spoil it but it made me sad.  The pacing was slow at first, but the second half was better. I really like Marissa's writing style. I thought it was beautiful. The plot was really unique and different. There's a cliffhanger at the end but it didn't upset me. I really want to read the next book "Scarlet". Overall,I didn't have problems with this book, it was just hard for me to get into. If your looking for a unique retelling in a dystopian setting, I recommend this book. Also, Cinderella is my favorite fairy tale so I enjoyed the retelling part. I can't wait to read "Scarlet" and "Cress". That's my review, I think this book is worth a buy and I love the cover.

Those were all my reviews. If you read all of the reviews, give yourself a pat on the back. I promise I won't do anymore mashup reviews. I like to review books one at a time, I was due to review these so I hope you enjoyed them. I will be filming reviews for these on my channel so stay tuned for more :) You will probably see a review for "Legend" next. :) Thanks for reading.

Book Review: Switched

Switched by Amanda Hocking

Rating- 4/5 Lily Pads
Edition-Paperback
Pages-293
Would I recommend it? Yes
No Spoilers!

Hey everyone, today I will be reviewing "Switched" by Amanda Hocking. I thought this book was pretty good. I gave it a 4 because I liked it but it wasn't amazing. I read the first two books in her Watersong series and I love that series, so I wanted to read this book. Let's get on with the review.

The Plot

The plot is hard for me to describe. I'm really bad at describing plots for paranormal/fantasy/dystopian books.
Basically Switched is about a girl named Wendy Everly. She lives with her Aunt and her brother Matt. When she was born Wendy was switched at birth. Ever since Wendy was born, her mother knew Wendy wasn't her child. On her sixth birthday, her mom tried to kill her and ended up in a mental hospital. So now Wendy lives with her Aunt and brother. At school everyone hates Wendy and people think she's a monster because she's not normal. Wendy starts to believe she is a monster. There is a guy in her class named Finn, and he always stares at Wendy. One day she confronts him and he tells her what she really is, a changeling. She is a troll and she has the power of Persuasion. She can get people to do what she wants using her brain. Finn tells her she's a Trylle. He tells her she doesn't belong there and he convinces her to leave her family and go to a world where she belongs. She eventually goes with him and lives in a castle. She finds out her real mom lives there, her mom's a queen and Wendy is a princess. Now Wendy has to learn how to be a princess and how to use her abilities.

My Opinion

I really enjoyed this book. I went into this book not knowing much about it. The beginning was really good, but the middle bored me a bit. The ending was really rushed. I thought the plot was interesting, I didn't know the main character was going to be a princess. This book was a good paranormal book. Even though the ending was rushed I may read the other two books in the future. I loved all the characters except for the Queen. She was really mean to Wendy. I really liked Wendy. She was a good protagonist. She was insecure about herself and I liked that because I can relate to it. She was strong at times and she stood up for herself. She was really likable. Finn was likable too. He is a tracker, which is someone who finds all the creatures and brings them to that world to be where they belong. He is also a bodyguard to the Queen. I thought he was a nice guy. I thought the romance was fine but it was a little rushed at some times but it was good most of the time. I liked all the other characters. All the characters Wendy was friends were very likable. She has some guy friends and a girl friend named Willa. I love Amanda Hocking because she does such a good job at developing characters. The character developing is just amazing, and I love the characters in her Watersong series too. The writing style was very simple to read and the pacing was fine. If you haven't read a book from this author, I recommend this book or her Watersong series, which I liked more. If you are looking for a good paranormal book with well developed characters, I recommend this book. I think it is worth a buy even though I got this book at a used book store for a dollar. Overall I really liked this book which is why I gave it 4 Lily Pads. Thank you so much for reading my review and stay tuned for more reviews coming soon. Bye :)

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Chamber Of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

Rating- 5/5 Lily Pads!
Edition- Special Edition Paperback
Pages-341
Would I recommend it? Yes! I recommend this series for new readers
No Spoilers!!

Hey book hoppers. I am back again with a quick review. Today I am reviewing book 2 in the Harry Potter series which is the "Chamber of Secrets". This is my first time reading Harry Potter. I was never planning on reading the series, but I wanted to see what the hype was about, so I decided to read it and I'm glad I did. What did I think about this book? Oh my gosh, every time I think about this book, it gives me the feels. This book was so good, I don't have to explain why, lol. This book was amazing and incredible. I really liked the first book but this one blew me away! The characters are amazing, and so brave. This book had so much mystery in it, I didn't want to put it down, and I read it really quickly. Now I get why this series is so popular. I'm not going to describe the plot, because my reviews are spoiler-free. Also, I'm sure most of you know what HP is about. It's been a long time since I loved a book this much. If you read my recent reviews, you know I haven't been amazed by the books I read recently, they were just okay. I can't put into words how much I loved it. It was such a great sequel to the first one. Like I said before, this book had so much mystery. I wasn't able to figure everything out, and the end surprised me. I really regret waiting this long to read the series. I wish I could go to Hogwarts. Even though this book was just incredible, I still have some questions that weren't answered. I'm not going to tell you them because there's spoilers. I'm sorry this review is so random, and not well written. I don't have much to say without all the spoilers. I will probably watch the movie soon, I want to watch the movies after I finish each book. Overall, this book was just too good, and I loved it so much, I still have chills thinking about it. :) If you never read Harry Potter or if you are just starting to read, I really recommend this series if you love fantasy, magic and really strong, well developed characters. That's my review, this series is worth a buy. I actually got the Special Edition Box Set for my birthday, and it was so worth it, because I knew I was going to love this series. I cannot wait for book 3. I will be filming a review on my youtube channel soon so stay tuned for that. Also, in case you don't know, I am actually doing a Harry Potter read-along, I read one book a month, check out my goodreads group if you want to join, the link is on the side of my blog. That's it, go read this series now, have a great day, happy reading, bye all of you wonderful readers! :)

Book Review: Landline

Landline by Rainbow Rowell

Rating-4/5 Lily Pads
Edition- Hardcover
Pages-308
Would I recommend it? Yes
No Spoilers!!
I bought this book with my own money

Hey everyone I'm back with a review today! I will be reviewing "Landline" by Rainbow Rowell. This is the third book I've read from Rainbow. I read "Eleanor and Park" didn't like it, but I loved "Fangirl". I want to read her other book, "Attachments." This book was good, really good but I didn't think it was amazing. I liked Fangirl better. Let's get on with the review.

The Plot

Landline is about a 37 year-old woman named Georgie McCool. She is a TV screenwriter and she writes shows with her best friend Seth. It's almost christmas time and her dream for a tv show is becoming true, it's her big break. Unfortunately, her big break is at the same time her and her husband Neal, and her kids plan to go to Omaha, Nebraska for Christmas to visit Neal's family. Georgie decides to stay in LA and work on the show because she doesn't want to miss the big opportunity. So she stays, and Neal becomes mad at her. So now her family is in Omaha and Georgie is alone in LA. She decides to stay with her mom and sister, Heather for a few days. While she's there, she stays in her room. Georgie finds an old phone in her room and decides to use it to call Neal. It turns out the old landline phone, has powers. When Georgie uses it, she goes back in time years ago and talks to the old Neal. So she talks to him everyday and tries to fix her marriage while communicating with him. While she goes through all this, Georgie wonders if her marriage was meant to be, because Neal never seems happy anymore. So in this book Georgie tries to fix her marriage. That's what the book is about.

My Opinion

I really enjoyed this book. The pacing was slow but it was entertaining. Rainbow Rowell is a great author, I don't know how she comes up with unique plots for books. I love that her characters are so realistic, I feel I could relate to them. Georgie wasn't perfect, and neither was Neal. The plot was really unique and I liked reading about marriage even though I can't relate to it because I'm not married. It sort of tells me how to have a good marriage. Let's talk about the characters. I liked Georgie, she was cool and dorky. I thought her job was really cool and I liked her best friend Seth. He was such a good guy and I could tell her really cares about Georgie. I liked her mom and her younger sister, Heather. Her two daughters were adorable. I also loved this book because Georgie's mom has two pugs. Pugs are my favorite dog breed, I love them and one of the pugs in the book was pregnant.  I loved how this book really focused on family, because family is very important to me.I didn't have any problems with this book, well except for one thing. The only thing that bothered me was Neal. I did not like Neal. There were some moments where I liked him, but most of the time I didn't like him. He was mean and he doesn't have much of a personality .He never smiles or laughs and that's not my type of guy. I like that he takes care of the family but overall I just didn't like him.He annoyed me because throughout the whole book he gave Georgie the cold shoulder.I understand that he was mad at her, but it was rude of him to ignore his wife. Georgie called him a million times and every time she called, he avoided her and that really bugged me. I felt so bad for Georgie. I honestly thought she was too good for Neal. That's all I can tell you without spoilers. Yeah, I gave it 4 lily pads because it wasn't amazing but I really enjoyed it. This was a adult novel and I like adult books so it wasn't a problem for me. I think teenagers can read this book because it's not very dirty there aren't any sex scenes but there is swearing, which bothered me because I don't swear at all. I recommend this book to anyone especially if you like reading about marriage. I couldn't relate to this book but that's why I loved it. I read to escape from my life and it was really good. I think this book is worth a buy. That's my review, stay tuned for more. I will be filming a review on my channel soon so bye!
