Book Review: Confessions of a Shopaholic
Confessions of a Shopaholic- Sophie Kinsella
Edition- ebook/kindle (Borrowed from Library)
3 Stars!
Spoilers
I just finished reading "Confessions of a Shopaholic" and I thought it was okay. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad. Please read on to see my opinion.
Plot:
Rebecca (Becky) Bloomwood just hit rock bottom. But she's never looked better.
Becky has a fabulous flat in London's trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season's must-haves. The only trouble is that she can't actually afford it, not any of it. Her job writing at Successful Savings not only bores her to tears, it doesn't pay much at all. And lately Becky's been chased by dismal letters from Visa and the Endwich Bank, letters with large red sums she can't bear to read. She tries not spending a lot, and tries to make more money, but none of her plans succeed. She just has to buy herself something. She knows she is considered a "Shopaholic" but she can't stop herself from buying things. She's in debt, and her account gets frozen.
Opinion:
I thought this book was good. I always heard of this series and I just watched the movie. I really liked the movie and thought it was funny! I borrowed the book from the library and I'm glad I did. The beginning was good! I got into the book and then halfway through, I didn't like it anymore. I don't know why, it got boring. I didn't care about what happens to Becky anymore. She was kind of stupid. Why would you keep spending money if you knew you were in debt? It doesn't make sense. I didn't finish the book, so I don't know how it ended. There wasn't really romance in this book. Becky sort of liked this guy from work, Luke Brandon but nothing really happened between them. Well, maybe something happened but I didn't finish the book so I don't know. She went on a date with her friend's cousin, Tarquin and I liked him. He was a nice, sweet guy and he liked Becky. I liked him a lot better than Luke. I was mad because Becky only agreed to go on a date with Tarquin because he's rich! She even said she was going to marry him and be rich too! I can't believe she only went out with him for his money! That is terrible! She didn't even give him another chance. I started to not like her anymore. I liked her at first, but then I realized how stupid she was. She was very selfish at times too! At times I felt bad for her, but I stopped reading the book because I honestly didn't care what happens to her! This book was fun the first half, but I got bored reading the rest. I think if you love shopping and talk about financial things, you will love this book! I guess I can tell people to buy it, but if you can, borrow it from the library like I did. I also love Sophie Kinsella's other books! I read "Remember Me?" and "Can You Keep a Secret?" and I loved those books. I will be reading her other books. She's a great author, I just didn't love this book that much.

Book Review: Eleanor & Park
Some possible spoilers!
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Hardcover Edition-Borrowed from Library
Didn't Finish
2 Stars!
328 Pages
This book disappointed me. I heard so much hype and good things about this book from YouTube and Goodreads. Everyone talked about how much they loved this book. I am one of the few people, that didn't love this book. Why? Let me tell you why. Read on if you wish.
The Plot:( Inside flap of book)
Two misfits. One extraordinary love.
Eleanor... Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough...Eleanor.
Park...He knows she'll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There's a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises...Park.
Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds-smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.
Eleanor & Park is a story that takes place in 1986. The story starts with kids on a bus in the morning going to school. There is a new girl that comes on the bus. Eleanor. No one knows who she is. She is new to the school. Everyone on the bus has a seat, and no one else can sit in their spots. When Eleanor first goes on the bus, there are no seats available. All the kids told her she can't sit in any of the seats. It's not just because they have their own seats. It's not just because Eleanor is new. It's because she is different. She has red frizzy hair, smells weird, and wears strange boy clothes. People tease her and she tries to find a seat. Everyone says no. But then one boy lets her sit with him. His name is Park. Every morning he listens to music on the bus. They sit together every day, but don't talk. Soon Park lets her listen to his music and they share comic books. They eventually get along and become friends. And then romance blossoms. They come from different worlds. Park has a good family and his parent's have lots of money. Eleanor moves in with her mom and her stepfather. Her home life isn't good though, because Richie is mean. He abuses her mom. Also, her family is poor. Her siblings don't have much clothes and Eleanor doesn't even have a toothbrush. Who knew two different people could come together.
My Thoughts:
Okay, from reading the plot I'm sure you think the book sounds good right? Nope. I thought the book sounded amazing and I was so excited to read it! My expectations were too high. This book isn't told from first person and first person is my favorite. It's in their point of views a little but third person. The beginning of the book was really good, when Eleanor first got on the bus. I started getting bored and put the book down. This book took me so long to read and put me in a reading slump. I liked how the book takes place in the 80's before modern technology was invented. I liked Eleanor and Park. The book was fine, until they started having feelings for each other. You may be wondering why that is a problem. I usually love romances. But the romance was so rushed and too fast! I wasn't even half way through the book and put it down. It started off with them not talking to each other at all, then a week later they start to talk. After that they sort of become friends. And then all a sudden they love each other! That bothered me so much! It was too fast. They barely talked to each other and all a sudden they love each other! The romance made me put down the book. I honestly didn't believe in their love. It was so fast! Seriously, they were so obsessed with each other, after only talking for like a week! They said they love each other, and said "I live for you, and can't live without you". That made me so mad! I'm sorry, but I have instant love. After that I couldn't finish the book. I got bored and I wasn't even halfway. Also, I could care less about what happens to the characters. I hate to give this book a bad review. Especially because everyone else loved it, but it's my opinion! Maybe I will read it again in the future, I'm not sure. Don't let this bad review stop you from reading the book. I'm sure lots of people will love. I guess it wasn't for me.
Wow, this review is a lot longer than I'd thought it would be. Anyway, I didn't enjoy Eleanor & Park but I'm sure lots of people will like it. I recommend borrowing this book first like I did. Even though I didn't like this book, I will be reading other books from Rainbow Rowell especially, Fangirl.
That's my review and stay tuned for more, bye!:)

Book Review: Can You Keep a Secret?
Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella
Paperback Edition- My sister bought it
5 Stars!
357 Pages
I went into this book not knowing what to expect. This is my second novel from Sophie Kinsella and I loved it! I will be reading all her books. The first book I read from her is "Remember Me?" and I really liked it. I heard such good things about her writing and I can see what she is so popular. This book was so exciting and I never got bored reading it. Sophie has this writing talent that gets you into the book from the very first page. I just love her writing. She writes in first person which is my favorite! Her books are also funny. Anyway let's get on with the review shall we?
The Plot:(From back of the book)
Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets:
Secrets from her boyfriend:
I've always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.
Secrets from her mother:
I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur.
Secrets she wouldn't share with anyone in the world:
I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is.
Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger...
But come Monday morning, Emma's office is abuzz about the arrival of Jack Harper, the company's elusive CEO. Suddenly Emma is face-to-face with the stranger from the plane, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her. Things couldn't possibly get worse. Or could they?
This book is a lot better than what it seems. Sophie does a great job with her original storylines. Her books are so funny!
Emma is in her twenties and works at a business place for Panther Products. She is only a assistant and keeps asking her boss to give her a promotion. She is a really nice woman who has some bad luck. The problem is she lies to everyone. She has a bunch of secrets she never told anyone, and isn't planning to tell anyone. She has a good relationship with her boyfriend, Connor and plans to move in with him. That all changes once she goes on a plane. She has a fear of planes. When there is a turbulent problem, Emma thinks she is going to die. She tells the guy next to her, everything about her, including all her private secrets that no one can know about. After that, the guy comes to her office. His name is Jack Harper and he is the boss of the whole company. Everyone tries to stay on his good side, and Emma is scared that Jack will tell everyone her secrets. She ends up breaking up with Connor because she's not happy with their relationship and she lied to him about lots of things. Her and Jack end up being attracted to each other and they start to date. Emma is a happy girl in love with her boss until he spills all her secrets on television during an interview. Everyone in the world and at the company watches the interview. They all tease Emma and she is humiliated. Her best friend Lissy, helps her. Emma starts to hate Jack but then they end up together again.
This book was so good! It was an easy read and the pacing was good. I liked Connor. I liked Jack, but why did he tell the world all her secrets! Emma never told anyone his secret. I liked Lissy. She was a good friend and a good role model. I thought Jemima was okay. At first I didn't really like her, but she can be cool when she wants to be. I really liked the romance. I was bothered at all and I was happy for Emma. Did I mention how much I loved Emma? She was such a great character. She made a lot of mistakes and I can relate to her. She also has bad luck like me. She wasn't very confident but she was so funny and cool so I loved her! She has a good heart and cares about people. I really, really liked her. She was also outgoing and fun. I would want to be friends with her in real life. This book was really amazing! I love Sophie Kinsella so much! I will be reading her other books next, because I am in the mood to read all her books! This book did not disappoint me! I recommend everyone to buy this book now! Don't just borrow it from the library, it's worth a buy! Buy it now, and I promise you won't be disappointed. That's my review and stay tuned for more. See ya!
